My husband and I were born and raised and/or spent several years living in southern CA so we are skeptical about Midwest “Mexican”. Often it’s good enough, but it’s just okay. This place was AMAZING. Besides Lily’s, this is the only place I will say has amazing margaritas- fresh, not artificial tasting and the perfect balance of ingredients. Chips were served warm AS we were being seated and they were a perfect balance of crunchy and salty. The service was incredible. Jesus was our server and he was so friendly, quick and helpful. Other staff was always ready with a smile and it seemed other tables were all well cared for as well. Service in restaurants has been garbage since COVID but the service here was seamless. We did not have a single issue, and the place was so clean, and the food was bomb. HIGHLY recommend the fresh squeezed margarita, the fish tacos and the Catrin Burrito. Excited to come back here!!!

There’s a ton of Mexican places in South City. It seems like a new one pops up every week! But THIS ONE really stood out! Completely renovated, spacious and beautiful/super modern! You can tell they put a lot of thought in their redesign. Our server on Saturday for lunch was attentive and friendly and helped me pick something out that I loved. I always judge a Mexican place on their chips and salsa since that comes first…wow! The cheese dip was no disappointment either! The food was absolutely amazing – portions are so large this was my lunch and my dinner that day (I got a burrito). We will definitely be making this a regular stop! Thanks for standing out!

Fun atmosphere… big restaurant with indoor and patio seating. Huge portions. The enchiladas verdes were good and the carnitas tacos were AMAZING… perfect corn tortillas and really flavorful. Loved the Catrin Dip as well. The churro sunday was our favorite desert. Great prices… fast service… great staff. Will be back…

A great new addition to the neighborhood dining scene. El Catrin remodeled the old Hilltop Tavern and it is amazing. Gorgeous outdoor patio space. The inside is spacious and beautifully decorated. Service was quick and the food was a home run. We’ve been back several times and are never disappointed!

Great food and excellent service. This place has an awesome, large bar and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is actually 2 levels. It looks so much smaller from the outside. Our dinners were delicious, the chips and salsa are fresh made too. I highly recommend this place.

This was a very nice and much bigger than expected place. Service was good food was good. Liked having the TV’s accessible to view anywhere you sat as well. Parking seems to be an issueas there isn’t a dedicated parking lot that I’m aware of. Also if we can get agua frescas there then we would be in business
