Good pick. We ate on the early side so not too busy. Had no wait and food came out quickly. Service was very good.

Fabulous! Little funky restaurant right on the waterfront and Fernandina Beach. They have the great combination of location, friendly staff and fabulous food. Started with a crab dip as an advertiser, and it was crazy. Good. The parmesan cheese crust on top… Ooh la la. Went with a waiter suggestion and got fried shrimp. It was delicious! Locally caught light crunchy batter, I couldn’t stop eating it. Was delicious as well. Will definitely be coming back here!

I really loved it! The Pelican Sunset Punch was probably the best mixed drink I’ve ever had. Food was great. I’ll definitely be back. Waitress was awesome.

Great food and service In a great beach side atmosphere. I set upstairs overlooking the ocean. The crab dip is to die for. They have excellent drinks also. I highly recommend the taco Tuesday special.

If you are going for the sunset views, get there early (depending on the number of people in your party). There were only 2 of us, and we lucked up with balcony seats facing the water at sunset.

The Salty Pelican is always great, lunch, dinner, weekdays, weekends, etc. We arrived on a busy Saturday evening. The food is definitely worth the wait, but the bar actually had four seats open up. All of the food was delicious and they have a great beer selection.

We stopped by here for a late lunch on a Monday, and it was pretty busy still. We were sat promptly, The service was super friendly and fast. There was upstairs seating that overlooked the water, but it was raining so we sat inside downstairs. There must have been portions of this restaurant that were dog friendly because we did see a lot of dogs, not where we were sitting but when we were walking up. The parking lot for this restaurant is pretty hidden, we couldn’t find it when we were driving past, but we aren’t from the area. There is a public parking lot with free parking about a block over which is where we ended up parking and then walking over.

We stopped in for late lunch/early supper on our day trip to Fernandina Beach and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was quick, friendly and stayed on top of keeping our drinks refilled. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. My husband and I both got the shrimp plate (mine blackened and his fried) and they were so good! I highly recommend the fried gator bites with pelican sauce as well, even my four year old loved them!

This was our first time at Salty Pelican, and it will be our last. We ordered 2 appetizers-the dry rub wings and the giant pretzel. The pretzel is enormous, but it doesn’t taste very good. We ordered a giant pretzel appetizer at another local place yesterday, and it was far better than this one. My husband enjoyed the wings. I ordered the pan seared shrimp plate. It clearly wasn’t pan seared. The server told me that their pan seared is very similar to boiled shrimp. That’s because it is boiled shrimp. Very disappointing to order pan seared shrimp and receive boiled shrimp cocktail. Our 3 kids ordered the chicken tenders and fries. One of them came out so burnt that we were surprised that the kitchen staff would even send them out like that. When the food runner delivered them to the table, I immediately told him that they were burnt. He just looked at me for a while then said he would let the kitchen know. Our server came by shortly and asked how everything was. I told her that his chicken was way over done. She looked at it and said “oh yeah, 100%.” And he grabbed the food to take it to the kitchen. She came right back with a fresh order. My son wouldn’t eat the chicken so I tasted it. It looked ok but tasted burnt. They needed to change the oil. My husband’s fried shrimp weren’t seasoned at all. We both ordered margaritas. Cheap margarita mixer with very little tequila. This place was BUUUSSSYYYY while we were there, but I have no idea why. The food was not good. I would never try this place again. The only thing that my kids liked about this place was that their food was served in a frisbee that they could take home.

In our group we had an order of fried shrimp, a shrimp wrap, a Philly, and a child’s chicken finger basket. The shrimp and chicken were both over cooked, they may actually have been leftover from lunch and dropped back in the hot oil to reheat them. It was that bad.
