The Louisiana French Creole use the term “lagniappe” to describe something that’s “a little something extra,” and that’s exactly what chef owner Brian Grimley knows it takes to transform a dish from mere food into an experience you never forget. Inspired by the culture and flavors of New Orleans, Charleston and Savannah, Chef Grimley’s Lagniappe Restaurant combines the traditions of the French Creole with unique twists on Southern culinary staples using only the freshest local ingredients. And should you wish to elevate your experience by imbibing one of the many cocktails on the menu, you’ll choose from a range of both classic and new wave cocktails inspired by the eclectic spirit of the South.

Superb flavor in all dishes ordered. The artistic freedom in plating showed talent in the kitchen. The best shrimp and grits I’ve had in Florida. Fried green tomatoes were excellent as was the charcuterie selections. The service was Johnny-on the spot.

Our family of 5 visited for the first time on a Tuesday evening. We had a reservation for 5:30, and we were seated immediately. We were lucky to sit in one of their booths. It was so big that we had room for the kids to spread out and have fun coloring without knocking anything over. Our server was fantastic, and I hate that I forgot her name. We were surprised to learn that they have a kids menu with typical items like chicken tenders and fries, but my kids love steak, so we planned to order from the regular menu for them. Our waitress asked the kitchen what the typical weight was for the steak frites so we would know how many portions to order for our young kids. It’s a 10-12 oz steak, so we ordered 2 for the 3 kids to share. We also ordered another side of fries, but it was truly not necessary as the portion of fries was very generous. My husband ordered a cup of the gumbo and the scallops special as his entree. It was to be served over polenta, which he loves. The scallops were perfectly cooked but lost their sear when placed on the polenta, which was very watery. My steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare as was the kids steak. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were just ok. I would come back for a steak because it was absolutely delicious but choose a different side item. I didn’t get a picture of the complementary bread as my family devoured it quickly. The kids love hush puppies so I asked to order a side of them (not a menu item). They were dry and lacking flavor, so we would just stick to their awesome bread next time.

My husband and I ate the blue corn crusted catfish with etouffee and pickled collard greens. The kids ate oysters and brussel sprouts and tenderloins and fries. Our server, Drew, was amazing! They have a kids’ menu, and Drew was great with our kids, especially my oldest who was “hangry”. Unbelievably good dishes! The batter for the tenderloins was somewhat sweet, which I absolutely loved. I cannot explain the flavors in the catfish and etouffee, but they were perfect. It was a lovely evening. This was a great finish for a long day! When we visit the island again, we’ll be back!

From the outside, you can miss this beauty inside—outstanding food, drinks, and ambiance. Probably one of the best restaurants on amelia island. Definitely, a Recommendation if visiting.

Awesome spot for dinner. Mostly older crowd but still a very lively atmosphere. Great bar service and the kitchen works really hard to put out some excellent dishes.

Great atmosphere, service, drinks. The meal had high and low points. I would not recommend the lobster corn dog. Would have been better to do a panko version. The tempura was not done. Fried green tomatoes were good. The pork belly – really wish it were more crispy, the portion was large but I’ve had tastier. Hands down the pork chop was the best thing at our table. I wasn’t a fan of the crabcakes, way too much pepper, and I think it was blue crab, which has its own sort of flavor. We had the bread pudding a chocolate desserts both excellent.

Early Friday evening dining. We got a salad, gumbo, and cassoulet. The gumbo was amazing – the best I’ve ever had. Server, Crystal, was great and the atmosphere was modern and fun. My biggest complaint is that the lighting over my food was bad … and that is nit-picking. First place we’ve been that you can buy a round of beer for the kitchen staff, just do it – the hooping and hollering you hear from the kitchen is worth it. (Please give me a thumbs up if you found this review helpful.)

We were visiting Amelia Island and Lagniappe made my mom’s birthday visit so special. The food was great– everything was delicious and house made. Their outdoor patio is lovely and is dog friendly which was awesome because we were traveling with our dog. They also were very accommodating and conscientious of my tree nut allergy. Natalie was our server and she was wonderful!

We enjoyed. The burgers were great, as were the crab cakes. The pork special was good. The lobster corn dogs were not our favorite. Enjoyed the wine selection and ambiance. Would definitely re visit and recommend eating there.
