If you want food like grandma used to cook then Roxie’s is the place for you. Roxie, who is 94 years young, does it all. This is not fast food, although our wait was not excessive.

Miss Roxie is a special lady. I’ve pretty much adopted her as an unofficial grandma. The food is like you’d get at your own Granny’s, and the service is with a dash of wit and sass. You can’t beat her biscuits and gravy. By the way, don’t be surprised if she tells you to get your own drink, and most customers clean up their own dishes. This place is a treasure. Did I mention she does everything and she’s 92 years young?

Sometimes we are treated to a slice of life that is a little different then the usual. Roxie’s breakfast is one of these encounters. Serve your own coffee, and maybe get a freshen up from one of the regulars, it’s understood that only one person is in attendance. Roxie takes your order, cooks your meal, brings it out. Roxie makes it special, and the regulars and locals that keep it going, because here, here you find a slice of home from days gone past.

The woman (assuming the owner) is extremely rude. I have made two attempts to dine here. The first time I went in to inquire about an order to go. After patiently waiting for about 20 minutes and getting dirty looks from the woman, she asked me what I wanted. I asked if I could have a to-go menu or place an order to-go. She snapped at me and said “can’t you see I’m full! I can’t serve you!!” (Mind you there’s only 6 four top tables in the entire place.) Although she was walking away I still tried to ask for a to-go menu for next time. While still walking away she raised her hand and waived it as to dismiss me. The second time I attempted to go here, (yes I still decided to try again) I walked in with my 11 yr old son at 845am to place a take out order. As soon as we both entered she barked at my son and I “CAN’T YOU SEE I’M CLOSED?!?!” Mind you the hours listed on Google said 9 or 9:30, and the neon OPEN sign was still on outside, along with a few people still eating. I have never been treated with such disrespect at a restaurant. Both times this woman barked at me other patrons watched with looks of disbelief and utter shock. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant to anyone!! Do not waste your time or effort. Spend your money at a restaurant that actually appreciates customers and would like your business.
