Went for the first time & it was a cool experience – rotating belt, robots serving you drinks, self-pay and ordering.

The waitstaff were all very friendly and attentive with explaining how to order and get food off the belt. The selection was delicious especially the seasonal selection like the jumbo sweet shrimp. The robot that brings your drinks are super fun.

I’ve been to Kura Sushi at other locations and I’ve loved it. When I heard there was one in San Antonio, I was so excited! Sadly, both times I’ve been here, I’ve been disappointed. It’s not as good as other locations. The sushi always seems to be room temp and the rice is always falling apart. They offer chopsticks, but you can’t even pick up the sushi with the chopsticks because it just crumbles apart. Additionally, the output for sushi is not fast enough. You’re often looking at empty capsule for quiet sometime before they’re replenished. I really wanted to love this place, but I won’t be back unless the quality improves.

Tried a new-to-us sushi bar tonight. They don’t take reservations. They text you when “they are close to seating you”. For us, we got the text 45minutes before they actually called our number (about 75minute wait total). Drinks are supposed to be served on a little robot, but it was broken tonight. We were seated in bar seats, not a booth. I think that was better for this unique Japanese experience where the sushi is placed on a moving belt & you pull off the plate you want. You can also order anything off the menu & it comes to you on the top conveyor belt. When you are done with a plate, you put it in a plate slot located in front of each person. You can also order straight off their menu that includes hot plates (ramen, etc) not shown on their window menu. Customers are charged by the plate. Bottomless non-alcoholic drinks. They also have Japanese beer & sake. Worth a try if you enjoy sushi & need to go shopping at the Quarry.

This place is really cool, but poorly run. All the food that came out was fresh and (mostly) tasty. I just don’t think its managed very well and will turn all but diehards off. We got there as soon as they opened on a Friday and the sushi was readily available. By twenty minutes in, it was slim pickings the rest of our visit. If we got the even ten minutes later this would have been a bad experience. The wait staff was mostly absent, which is the point, but the two interactions we had felt very rude and attitude filled. I liked the idea and would love to go to a real one someday, so if you can’t afford Japan come here and expect to spend over 100 bucks and see how much you like it before buying plane tickets. I don’t think I’ll be back, but I would love to try one that is better run.

Interesting atmosphere and friendly greetings when one steps in lead into crushingly terrible sushi and just a general feeling of meh that no cutesy robot delivering drinks can alleviate.

It was a great experience! My little boys were so amazed with the robot waiter. My husband and I liked the fact that we could get to try different sushi and sashimi from the conveyer belt. Ordering was so easy thru the monitor, and the food came out on the top section of the conveyer belt as well. They even have great prices per plate! It’s definitely something to experience.

I love Kura! The experience is always super fun and the drink serving robot always makes me smile. Is the Sushi the best ever, no; is it the worst, also a no, but it’s fast and fun and that’s why I keep going back. A booth of your friends, some hot sake and a couple of Sapporo’s and a conveyor belt full of sushi is definitely a good time.

There was a long wait for a table, and it was not worth it. A piece of food rolled by like every 5 min. They explain the kitchen was backed up which is a problem but my biggest issue was how disgusting the dinning area seemed. The containers the food comes out on looked dirty, the conveyor belt looked filthy, and the trash shoot looked gross. The iPad where you order food was so nasty to touch. The floor was sticky and the robot that brings drinks looked awful. That place needs to be thoroughly cleaned. The one piece of sushi I did try before we decided to just eat somewhere else was alright but not worth the trouble.

I am a Sushi Lover and I will always try a new place, for a while I’ve been wanting to eat at Kura, but the long lines were something I didn’t want to deal with, but the long lines are gone and me and my daughter finally came and gave it a try. She was here once before during the week sand she said it was good.
