Went through drive through today for lunch. When I got home the chopped chicken salad I ordered was missing. I live out of town, not driving back for the salad. I love Portillo’s, just not this experience. It would be nice if you checked the order and make sure everything that was ordered is in the bag before giving a to go order to a customer.

Busy but not surprised as just opened in the last six months. Even though new still the classic beef may explain the crowd. Alternative is the food delivery services with a prep area dedicated to pickup. May miss the crowds at peak times but not the flavor in the quiet of one’s home.

The food was delicious as always. However, it was longer than expected to get food. After we ordered, it took twenty-five minutes for 2 double cheeseburgers fries and 2 drinks. It was also freezing in the building. We couldn’t take it anymore and ended up eating in the car to warm up.

Overall the Schererville, IN location is very good and was excellent service as well as excellent food. I would have given it 4 stars for the location however I deducted 1 star because there was something confusing about how to get into the drive-up line. We drove in off Rt 41 and saw the drive up line from Rt 41 with cars in line. But when we drove into the parking lot, the drive up was blocked with cones but I still saw a car in the drive-up line. I thought they must have closed the line for some reason, so we parked and went in which I didn’t really want to do. Was greeted at the door by a friendly employee, my order was taken professionally and efficiently. I forgot to mention I wanted take-out so I went back to order taking employee to have that corrected and she did it for me with no complaint and when I received it it was correct – in bags. There were lots of employees hired and clearly they were even hiring more being a new location. They were trained very well. When we left, I noticed there were still cars in the drive-up lane so we looked and it was still blocked with cones. There was no other sign where to go and we mentioned there must be some other way to get in there, but we never found it. Didn’t ride all the way around the parking lot looking for it but definitely not clear at all, as why have the natural entrance blocked? The woman’s bathroom has a baby changing station (see photo) for travelers. Handicapped parking in front of the door (see photo).

We’ve ordered from here twice and both times our order was missing items. The first time, our order was missing 3 orders of fries. The second time we ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and there was no chicken patty, just sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a bun! We will not be returning.
