Recently opened Maria’s Mexican Kitchen is a locally owned and operated restaurant. Maria’s Mexican Kitchen was inspired by all of the Maria’s in the owner’s personal life. He wanted to honor and thank all of the Maria’s in his family by always cooking and serving him delicious authentic food.

Ok so I gotta redo my review. This place can be a little hit or miss. Sometimes good is excitement sometimes not. I’ve been here and the steak is delicious and sometimes is beyond over cooked. I haven’t had a miss on the quesobarria tacos so that’s a good thing. When it first open it was great. Also the large margaritas as pictured are fish bowls almost.

Maria’s is an amazing lunch and dinner location in Beaufort SC. Pedro, the owner has several locations through the County. The food and staff are the best around. I’m a big fan of the lunch specials and the drinks are to die for. You won’t find a better Lunch spot in Beaufort if you love Mexican food like I do.

Padded tip, The food was really good and the service was OK, but when the credit card charge came it was increased by $2. I tipped 20% and they already charge extra for using a card. I’m OK with the credit card charge but adding an extra tip after the fact is not OK. I called to complain and was told that the money could not be put back on my card but I could come in for a refund. But now I’m not comfortable even going in, so they can just keep the 2 dollars and I’ll eat elsewhere.

I went in to order their steak, chicken and rice with cheese with no shrimp add bell peppers 17$. The lady says it’s going to be about 15 minutes so I decided that I was going to sit at the bar and drink a corona with lime while I wait. 1 bottle of corona with lime was $6.50.

I used to eat here before it was Maria’s. A name change doesn’t make a better restaurant. You get charged 4.15 for a sweet tea, and 4% extra if you use anything but cash. Probably won’t eat here again, but if I do, I will not be tipping. Shouldn’t be 20 bucks for a taco salad and a drink before the dinner menu comes out

If I could have rated it less I would. Where as the food was ok the service and attitudes of the employees was disgusting. My server would not listen to what I said, he was rude, arrogant, and obnoxious. The other staff refused to help out. They tried to over charge our meals by almost $10.00. When we asked for the manager she said the owner changed the prices but hasn’t changed the menu yet. I finally had to threaten to call the police before she would make it right. And who has ever heard of charging $4.75 for iced tea. I would not recommend or will not ever visit again.
