CRU Food & Wine Bar Menu – Cary, NC

Type : Traditional American restaurant

Location : Cary, NC

You might think the words “wine” and “snob” are redundant. Like “cold” and “snow” or “sweet” and “candy”. And you’d be right — except if you came to CRÚ. You’ll find no little pinkies extended, no noses in the air. We prefer you gently bring them to the edge of the glass and allow the aroma to prepare you for a new, fun experience in the enjoyment of wine.

Fenton is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots and we had the opportunity to stop in CRU for food and wine last night with another couple. We each started off with individual wine flights(rose, bubbles and Cabernet). Their menu had quite a few to choose from and they were reasonably priced. The wine was the best part of the evening as we found the food to be unfortunately overpriced and very underwhelming. We started with the wagyu meatballs which could have had more flavor and a simple heirloom tomato and burrata salad. Then we got the Margherita pizza and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The pizza was disappointing and was too saucy. The short rib was the best thing we ate, but still pricy for what it was. We then got two orders of the Napa burger that we ordered medium and came out well done. The overdone burger and the sparse amount of fig jam and caramelized onions made for another disappointment food wise. We all had an additional glass of wine with some of the wrong ones being brought out on several occasions before calling it a night. Unfortunately we left there feeling like the food and service could have been better for $290 with tip. Not sure if we will be back here for anything other than wine and will hopefully have better luck at other restaurants at Fenton.

Been to Cru twice now. Just did wine flights the first time. Nice selection of flights and very friendly staff. Second visit we ordered food as well. Some items were very good – tomato soup and grilled cheese, pizzas. Some items could use some improvement – rainbow trout (too salty). The staff was excellent during this visit as well. We started out on the patio (wish it had a retractable awning) and our waitress did a great job moving us inside when it unexpectedly started to rain. I think I will stick to the wood fired pizza and a nice glass of wine during future visits.

The only thing that was redeeming about this restaurant was our lovely waitress, Miranda. Other than that, I feel like this restaurant doesn’t belong in Fenton and here’s why.

I ordered the lobster and shrimp pot stickers because I waa told that they were delicious. I ordered some and they were super overcooked. It waa hard even using a knife to cut into it. They were tough and the worst I’ve ever eaten. They were also overly sweet. Maybe this wasca bad day for them but I don’t recommend them.

We had a wonderful experience visiting Cru, the food and wine bar located in Fenton. We went to Fenton to grab a bite to eat and shop a little bit. Cru is nestled up in the middle of the two way street and has an amazing relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress was knowledgeable and kind providing us with expertise advice on food. We ended up with the burger and fries which were to die for. We throughly enjoyed our first visit to this new local restaurant and cannot wait to come back!

Service was great other than a little slow getting our food. We were in no rush so not a big deal, the Pear Gorgonzola pizza was outstanding and worth the wait! Great location in Fenton and plenty of parking lots around.

I have tried a few restaurants in Fenton but CRU blew me away! I was amazed by the wine flights and the many selections they had to choose from. The service was impeccable and very friendly with great recommendations on both food and wine. I had the Barolo Braised Short Ribs and they did not disappoint. I started with the Lobster and Shrimp Potstickers which had a nice spice from Chilies and Lemon Sauce beautifully balanced out by Cucumbers. The Short Ribs just fell apart and the Butternut Squash Risotto was full of flavor. I highly recommend CRU and I can’t wait to go back and try new things. Don’t miss out on this fun and exciting new spot, you won’t be disappointed!

My favorite place in Fenton so far! Zach, the waiter was great. He recommended we share the goat cheese Beignet and so glad we did. It was so delicious! The food was amazing. The chef made a special hot sauce per my request. And it was the best hot sauce I’ve ever had! I wish I could have ordered a bottle of it to take home. The dill dressing was phenomenal!!! They need to bottle and sell it!!! Can’t wait to go back!!!! Everyone enjoyed it. We all enjoyed everything we ordered.
