Order over the phone as the online service was down for the Holiday weekend, and also found out that because the Dinner services do not start until 5:00PM I was unable to pick an Entree I sought, but that’s ok, that’s what backup picks are for.

Super cute place in a great small town. It is a very homey and cozy atmosphere. The people here are lovely. The food is great but the menu is not that big. Especially for dinner they really only have a big selection of sandwiches. They are a little pricey too. Service is great and food comes out fast. Also tends to lean more of an older of age crowd that comes here. Overall very nice place and good food!

Was so excited to dine here but terribly disappointed in the seafood we ordered. The calamari appetizer was average although tolerable. The special was baked sole with crab meat which was well over cooked and although looked tasty quickly turned into a pile of mush. To overcook a delicate whitefish to the point of emulsion is a shame. See pics. Stick with the fries and bar food. Neighbor diners plates with fries and burgers/sandwiches looked much more appetizing.

Went here for a family gathering of 20 people. Everyone kept hyping this place up all week but I have to say I’m incredibly disappointed. It may be because they had such a large order at once, but my fried calamari was absolutely flavorless and rubbery. I mean not even a hint of spice or salt added, and the marinara seemed like the cheap store bought stuff and was equally flavorless . I also got some garlic Parmesan chicken tenders that I have to imagine were from frozen, but at least had some flavor. My wife said her chicken cordon bleu was also incredibly under seasoned, with similar criticism from my brother, his wife, and my mother. The building itself was beautiful, but it’s pretty clear to me from what I saw of the other patrons that the only people who come here are old white people who think mayonnaise is spicy. The waitresses were very welcoming and overall excellent though, which is the only reason I didn’t give one star. That being said, I went to the bar to grab some drinks for the table and the bar tender seemed inconvenienced that I came up and interrupted his conversation with one of the other staff and had a pretty unfriendly tone.

The Charlton Tavern is like going back in time. I was so happy that, after the fire, they rebuilt it to look and feel exactly the same. The food is superb as was the service. I always have a warm family feeling there. It was a little loud, but we were still able to converse. I did not check out the bathroom, but there is a nice handicapped ramp. I had to park down a gravel hill, which wasn’t very close to the building, and would be a problem for wheelchairs. I was able to traverse it with a cane and will return for the food and atmosphere.

Drove about 18 minutes to this place cuz I was trying to find a place that had liver on their menu. I was not disappointed! This place has a magical feel to it during Christmas and new years time.

First trip I made was probably one of the best meals I’ve had, and the service was excellent. Went back a week later and it was awful. Menu items were inconsistent from the previous week. Most of my tables orders were awful. The only thing that topped it was the server who decided that we just worth bothering with. Unfortunately as good as the first trip was the second visit definitely ruined it for me.

What an outstanding place! Charlton Tavern is an Irish style tavern that serves up excellent food and drinks. I always go for the clam chowder because it is consistently delicious and always had the same taste. I’ve been to restaurants in the past where the clam chowders taste is very inconsistent. Since it’s my favorite soup/chowder, I know what I get when I’m dining at the tavern. I love the poutine and all their other pub grub. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed and the bathrooms are kept clean and tidy. We recently went here again on St. Patrick’s day and couldn’t believe how busy it was. Cars were lined up and down the street to get a table. They served a fun Irish style menu different than their normal menu. The bagpipers were very talented and the other fellow who was playing guitar had a fun arsenal of songs in his repertoire. Great work as usual Charlton Tavern, we will be returning again soon!
