On the whole this is a lovely restaurant set in the old town hall. However, there are aspects of the cuisine that need improvement in order assign a five star rating in my view. The reception with Nick (owner) and service from Megan were first rate. The owner came outside and took our photo as we were entering- welcoming and supportive especially for customers with limited mobility. For potential ADA customers in wheelchairs access would be difficult at best with a combination of curbs, stairs and low light levels.

I had an absolutely fantastic birthday dinner with my parents at Blue Heron. My father had made a mistake in booking the online reservation so we arrived thinking we had one although we did not. The host was very accommodating and was able to find a table for us and get things set up very quickly. We started with salads which were fantastic. In hindsight, I wish I had added the local cheese, but it was still very good without. I ordered the pan seared sea scallops with lentils. Both were cooked to perfection and the combination of flavors, which included bacon, apple cider reduction and mascarpone cream, was perfect. I especially like the smoky lentils against the delicate scallop. My father ordered the roasted half duck and my mother the scallop casserole special. Both said that their meals were equally fantastic. The service throughout the meal was impeccable. Highly recommend!

The atmosphere, food and service were near perfect. The one issue was the condescending attitude of the host. He was unclear regarding seating options. I had to ask three times to get an accurate answer regarding what would be the best seating option. This was especially troubling as we were taking my 96 year old mother out for dinner who was holding a cane. The place is cool and attracts a sophisticated group. That should not give the host the idea he can be uppity. Not cool. Shape up and just be nice. Especially to your elders. Life lesson.

Expensive but oh my so worth it! Perfect for a date or if you want A grade food experience in & around Amherst. Worth every buck – the honey garlic shrimp was the bestest appetizer I’ve had in a while! Honestly any and every dish you order is cooked with care and effort and tastes just like it.

I live in Las Vegas so I have been to many of the finest gourmet rooms in the world The ambiance was fabulous. The light jazz playing in the background added to the experience. The food was delicious. The best part of our entire evening was the young lady Megan that waited on us. She was so professional yet entertaining and fun wrapped up all into one. There are fine dining establishments many places, but when you have someone like Megan as your server it makes you want to come back !!! I asked the manager for a card and we will be at The Blue Heron twice a year when we visit our daughter. I will call in advance because the main reason I am coming back is Megan!!!!!

The blue heron is one of the best places to eat in this area. Everything is well paired, and all dishes are coocked and served to taste well. I recommend getting a reservation first, as it is sometimes busy.

From the moment I walked it I knew it was going to be a good experience. The hosts was able to find us a seat on a busy night. The wait staff was incredibly professional: knowledgeable, attentive while not being intrusive. The staff taking care of empty plates were discreet.. overall the atmosphere was what one would find in a fine dining restaurant and a large city..
