Despite a little attitude when we walked in (opening time), the other staff were pleasant & helpful.

I was not super impressed by the burger I had and didn’t get seafood bc everything on the menu was fried and I can’t have gluten. I found out later I could’ve gotten some steamed shrimp. The girl working the register was nice enough, but there was a difficult party ahead of us and you could tell she had had enough. Can’t blame her. The inside seating was limited, crowded, and the space was warm/loud. The picnic tables by the water were much more our speed. Overall nice customers and staff.

Got a crab cake (their sign claims the best) and a couple steamed crabs. Surprised they said we had to take the crabs outside to eat! There are about a half dozen picnic tables by the water so not too bad. Can’t say it was the best crab cake I ever had but it was pretty meaty with lump crab. Steamed crabs are always good so not much they could do wrong there.

I learned about this hidden eatery by a long time local. You drive past lovely waterfront homes with great views .. at the end a more commercial looking set up ..When we arrived I scratched my head, “Here?” I thought. Yes, it’s on the water with a view across the bay to Reedville, Cockrell’s is dotted with picnic tables to enjoy that view. Once inside it’s almost small Deli-like in feel. Don’t go for the decor, there isn’t any. Do go for the flavorful seafood salads or other offerings, which are good. As I recall their side dishes weren’t too great, and onion rings too oily and a bit pricey for onion rings, the French fries were average , perhaps next time I try the side salads . Addressing those shortcomings would enhance the dining experience for me. Locals love it and keep it something you have to discover living here.

I’ve eaten here more times than I’d like to admit. The soft shell crabs are the best I’ve ever had and the best in the area, including Tangier Island. Crab cakes are good as well. Can’t wait to eat the rockfish!

We ate here while on a bicycle trip and though it’s a bit out of the way, it was definitely worth the ride. The location by the water is scenic with picnic tables outside and a few tables inside, though I suspect most business is carry-out. The seafood was excellent with one of the better tasting crabcakes i’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of them. I’d highly recommend eating here!

We got the shrimp and fries basket and scallops and upgraded to onion rings. Everything was delicious, made more so by the picnic tables available to enjoy the food by the water. The young lady did tell us they close for the season before Thanksgiving and reopen in the spring.

After seeing reviews, I decided to take a ride over and try it out. Absolutely great food, loved sitting creekside on a picnic table on a lovely October day. Flounder was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge, wife said her crab cake was one of the best she has ever gotten from a restaurant, full of lumb crab. Cocktail sauce was spicy and extremely tasty, perfect compliment to the flounder and the crab cake.
