I would personally recommend this restaurant to anyone the food is amazing they have the best French fries in the world that hand cut carnival style French fries it will literally make your mouth water! Another thing I love is they give you a very generous portion not like some restaurants overcharge you and give you a small order of fries believe me when I tell you you will not be hungry when you’re done the owner will treat you like you are a member of his family is really a five-star variance that you have to try to truly enjoy and understand being in Akron Ohio

An absolutely wonderful gem of a spot! RUN HERE, DO NO WALK!! Fantastic food in a wonderfully unique and old-school setting. They don’t make em like this anymore!! Come check out another delicious serving of Akron’s unique burger history. This place has been around since 1931 serving fine, gum-dipped, blue-collar Akronites alike. Do yourself a favor and grab some today – and DINE IN!!

I am super disappointed the burgers here have completely changed. These burgers were dry, unseasoned, and the sauce/mustard had an odd taste. Service was acceptable , but chaotic. I’m so sad I have to cross this off the list permanently – this used to be an Akron institution. Their food used to be made with love. The love is gone. 🙁

Bob’s Hamburg has always been a special place in Akron. Those days are now over. This beloved restaurant changed owners several years ago and the quality and charm have sadly disappeared. This is no longer Bob’s Hamburg. The diner is now poorly run by a narcissistic moron who has no concept of food and hires people who don’t know how to cook. The menu is stupid and uninspired with no connection to the restaurant’s legacy, despite the owner shamelessly exploiting the name and its place in Akron history. Avoid this place.

I am 46 years old and have been going to Bob’s since I was just a kid. In the past, you would walk in and the waitress would come to the table to take your order and it would be ready within 10-15 minutes. Today, I walked in and was greeted by a guy behind the counter, sat down and waited a good 15 minutes. No one came over to the table. The guy behind the counter disappeared. There were two individuals sitting at the counter cussing up a storm and I discovered later that they were employees. They never even bothered to take our order.

Food was ok. The restaurant felt really dirty/gross. Ordered hot dogs for kids, wasn’t told until about 15 min later that they didn’t have any thawed. Most of our fry/onion rings side orders never got made.

I live a greasy spoon , and I love to Akron staples but we ordered two burgers and were there for an hour, our fries never came. The cook was the only one working and stressing.

This review is based on my employment at Bobs. I ran this diner for the current owners for 2 yrs because upon purchase of Bobs they had no clue about anything that pertained to the history or menu…etc. I was the manager and cook. Never missed a day because I couldn’t because they refused to run it with more then 3 people. I worked the grill with a boot on my foot for 8 hours be cause nobody could cover me. Gave my blood, sweat, and tears with no vacation, benefits or paid time off(we did eventually get 1 paid off starting in Jan2023 every quarter) but I couldn’t take it because of course there was not another person that could cook. Believe when I say that I really cared about the owners and hated to part ways but I have gotten to old not to have ANY BENEFITS. They offered None! Also the stress took a tow on me especially after loosing my husband 2 yrs prior (didn’t get paid for time off then either now that I think about it) I have a job now that offers all benefits and they started the day of employment..thank God. After telling my story I just wanted to say that I now have to fight Bobs Hamburg for money owed to me that now that I’m not working there they refuse to pay even though it is due to their business negligent. I now have to take it to small claims and that’s really sad. With all this being said I’ve heard that the place just isn’t the Original Bobs Hamburg anymore and that makes a lot of us sadder than anything. Kiosk!!! Really. Not giving customers your time and conversation isn’t Bobs..it’s McDonald’s..smh Update on this post will be on Yelp…stay tune. 4/27/23..just ran into 2 of my Bobs customers at Aldi…been going there for 65 yrs and said after their recent visit that they will not return. They were very sad to hear my story.
