Basic iceberg lettuce small town salad bar which is way better than just more fries! Great soups and chili and homemade pie also delicious! Great service and delicious food. Stop here along the long stretch of crossing Kansas for a treat of real food and not just another burger in a sack.

Not worth the visit. We arrived Sunday afternoon about 1pm. The young man who seated us was friendly and it went downhill from there. The waitress was visibly displeased as she gave us menus after we told her we didn’t want the buffet. I originally wanted a glazed chicken breast but the waitress said they were out of the chicken glaze for my original choice so I had to order the Hamburger steak, everything else was breaded and fried. My husband ordered a Bison Burger. I had to find the waitress to get the plate for the salad bar.

We ate here last evening. There were maybe half a dozen other tables, all but one seemed to have been served their food when we arrived. We arrived about 5:50, our food was finally served to us at 6:31.

On a diet, so I was limited on the menu, but the choices looked great. I just stopped by for a salad bar and overall, I had a good experience. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was fine. The only knock I have, and mind you a pretty big one, is 2 out the 4 glasses at my table had lipstick stains on them and the other 2 had water spots and were cloudy. The server was quick to get a clean glass. So in response to the poor dishwashing, and lack of notice by service staff, I give the 3 stars.

I was on a cross country trip with my wife and brother when we stopped here for lunch. We decided to get their buffet and were very happy with the quality of the food. The pot roast was great, cooked perfectly, nice and tender, and the potatoes, carrots, and onions were all done just right. Normally on a buffet the carrots are soggy and WAY over cooked. That simply wasn’t the case here. My only complaint was the fact that the pan drippings were very salty. Otherwise it was a great experience.

My family made a stop here for supper and had a pretty bad experience. There were only 2 other customers at the time we were there. We placed our orders and began the wait. After about 20 minutes the food for two of our children came. About 10-15 minutes more, my husband and I got our food. Our other child was still foodless. We asked the waitress about his food multiple times. about 15 minutes after that. We got lots of excuses from the waitress, she told us that they only had one fryer, then she told us it was the cook’s first day. We asked to speak to a supervisor and by that time, my son was in tears because we were all done eating and he had only had food that we shared with him. Turns out my son’s order was not even on the ticket. We had been asking the waitress for his food and she had never even ordered it. The only reason we are giving them 2 stars is because those of us who got our food, found it to be acceptable, not great, just okay. The other reason is that the supervisor made it right and didn’t charge us for our meals. Otherwise I would have given it a negative star review.

We travel frequently between MO and CO and for some reason have not tried Colonial before tonight. We checked the area for a dinner stop and found good reviews. We hadn’t eaten at a fried chicken buffet for awhile so we decided to give it a try. The chicken was very good, but the mashers and gravy were outstanding. I passed on dessert to have an extra helping of them. Our server Terri was very nice, and told us a story about waiting on a bunch of guys and accidentally spilling two kernels of corn on one mans lap. He accused her of doing so on purpose. She then scraped the plate on his lap and said “no I did not, but I just did so now.” His companions were overjoyed and tipped her excessively. The rest of our food was average tonight but since the chicken and mashed potatoes met our high expectations a good time was had by all.

I got a free breakfast coupon with my stay at the Free Breakfast Inn and was looking forward to the several options offered. Sadly, I didn’t read it before I got ready for the morning and missed the time specified on the coupon. I was fine with that as it was my fault for not paying closer attention, but my server offered to honor the coupon anyway! I was so happy as I hate to waste a coupon! I got refills and everything I needed without even asking. Staff was excellent as was my breakfast! Also definitely try the hand spun homemade butter it’s delicious! Definitely recommend.
