This place is amazing. It does not have a steakhouse vibe and feels and looks more like a bar but believe me they have some great steaks. I got the on the rocks filet and it was excellently seasoned and came with two sides and a soup. I read other reviews and the common theme is cold sides, I can say the sides were not cold when they first came out but after cooking my steak on the hot rock they had cooled a bit which may be the reason behind those reviews. The food was excellent and the price is great for a fun and unique dining experience. I will be back and am looking forward to it.

There were seven people at our table. The wait staff did know much about the food they served. Our meals came out from the kitchen separately not all at once. We didn’t get our dinner rolls until they brought out our dinners, not with our salad or soup. When they brought our dinner out they didn’t write down who ordered what? The food was good, a little on the pricey side. The wait staff was not good at all.

There are better places to eat in Royal Oak. We went on a Sunday and it was not busy. The menu looked really good but it didn’t deliver on taste. The fish and chips were overdone and had no flavor. The French onion soup was just beef broth with bread and chesse. The lime chicken was cooked well but the rub tasted like it was from a jar. The service was mediocre at best and they did mess up our order. There are better places in Royal Oak to eat so I would recommend going somewhere else.

I have NEVER in my life seen a situation handled so poorly in my life . The (manager ) at this place needs to go take some managing classes. This is more like a sports bar then a so called Steakhouse .We were the only people having dinner at this place so I dont know how it took almost an hour to bring out the salads. The people who ordered pasta,burgers,salads got there food while the people who ordered steak still waited about another 5-10 minutes so you would think they would at least get a warm meal but instead they got charred steaks with cold sides. When they all said something to the waitress she asked if they wanted new ones we were already there for 2 hours we did not need to be there another hour, they took everyones steaks without saying anything if they were going to warm them up or what. A lady came out and said I was told I needed to speak to you guys that there was a problem with the steaks . One of the people in our party called her hun (because she never told us her name ) and was trying to explain that everyone did not get the steaks done right and they were lukewarm and sides were cold . The first thing she said was do not disrescept me and call me hun ,we all looked at each other in disbelief .She then went on to basically say the steaks came just the way they ordered them basically calling 5 people liars and saying you ate most of the steak and you want a refund. That is when everyone could not take nomore , only one or bites were taken from the charred steak and noone asked for a refund. A little respect would have been nice . So basically she said we were yelling at her and that she was going to call the cops. What kind of manager does that ,she was rude from the minute she opened her mouth and had no respect for the customers,then you want to call the cops. NEVER WILL I STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE !!!!!!

Waitresses were making offensive comments towards the manager in an attemp to leave early (apparently this is a game they often play) fun for them, awkward for guest. Our waitress was also a ghost, at least 15-20 mins between visits to our table. 2 of the 3 orders were wrong. Sauces were bland. I really tried to like this place, but I wont be going back.

I was out walking around in Royal Oak with my girlfriend who is 8 months pregnant. She wanted a steak so we headed over to Onyx to take care of her craving. When we get to the door we are denied access because of my jeans. The jeans i had on were $150 they weren’t pulled down or “sagging” they were faded and torn but that is how they came. Never would i return to this judgemental discriminatory establishment.

Service was great. Wasn’t to busy, Carly (the bartender) was helpful and friendly. She Explained the Menu and drink recipes in full to us. She kept checking on us. Brought me beer samples. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Not even worth 1 star, I went to onyx went my friends for my Co workers birthday and was literally carried out of the club/bar for no reason, I wouldn’t spend a dime nor penny in this establishment, the bouncers are racist and don’t have respect for people’s personal space. The carried me out the club as if I had assaulted someone or was starting trouble then to top it off, royal oak police only had smart comments about the situation. All because the bouncer thought I was “sagging” which was the case because I had in a gucci belt.

We were sat right away. It was 20 minutes before we got drinks. We did not get there until 8pm and after ordering our dinner it was 1 1/2 hours before we got our meal. The food was decent, but nowhere near good enough to justify the wait or the service. Would not go back.
