Bitar’s is not just an award winning specialty food store and restaurant enterprise – it’s a family. When the Bitar’s found that their Middle Eastern neighborhood had no ethnic food market, Elias and Mariette Bitar opened a small shop and Pita bakery on the corner of 10th and Federal Streets to cater to the community.
Now, 45 years later, that corner store has become a major supplier to the best chefs in Philadelphia. We continue to serve both Philadelphians from the Middle East and Philadelphians interested in the wonderful flavors that originated in the Middle East.
Corner Lebanese shop offering specialty foods & Mediterranean menu classics like falafel & hummus. Based on 232 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.7 stars. Price $

I always wanted to try this place because of the reviews. We ordered chicken kebab and falafel combo. The chicken was very dry and lacks flavor. We were both missing the pita so not sure how we are supposed to eat the hummus. Rice on the combo was hard. This is the first time and I am very disappointed. We can’t even finish the food. Not sure what is going on since the the other reviews are different…anyone else experienced this?

Best gyro meat I’ve had in Philly so far. Everything tasted great and fresh. Fair prices too. Would recommend this place for sure

Bitar’s is one of my favorite places for takeout in Philly and my go-to for really delicious falafel, hummus and stuffed grape leaves. The owners are really friendly and take pride in their business.

One of our go to take our places. Super friendly staff and great food! I’ve also stocked up on feta, olives, stuffed grape leaves and pita for at home greek salads

BEST Mediterranean place in Philly! The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is absolutely wonderful and sweet. The rice combo with chicken is a daily order for me. Everything on their menu is mouthwatering. The price is very fair for the high quality food you receive. Do NOT sleep on this deliciousness

I got delivery last night and wasn’t notified by the driver when they dropped it off, by the time I realized it was there the fries were cold and soggy and the kebab was chewy and luke warm. I normally love the kebabs and don’t mind the extra delivery fees, plus I tip a minimum of 20%, so I consider it a special treat paying 40% more than I would for a pick up order. Being 20 minutes late at the end of the night is no big deal, but just dropping my delicious dinner outside in the cold for anyone to grab, it was on the steps, not between the doors, which would have been much safer and warmer, really ruined my meal

I was in the neighborhood for an errand and was craving a falafel wrap- this hit the spot! Hummus was super tasty and I liked that the falafel was grilled, not too oily. The pickled radishes were also a nice touch.

Wonderful place! I got the vegetarian falafel with a side of hommus and it was perfect! The atmosphere is relaxed and nicely decorated with a great selection of condiments and other items you can purchase. The owners were warm and friendly and I will definitely return!
