I’d been wanting to try Zócalo because I’ve heard so many good things about it. The rumors were all true! The food was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was really nice (perfect for our small group). The bottomless margarita option on Thursdays was also surprisingly good. I already want to go back and try something else from the menu.

Super cute place. We tried a little bit of everything to give it a fair shot. The chicken in the chimichanga had 0 flavor so that was disappointing. But the birria taco appetizer was yummy and the tacos. I loved the salsa it was sweet and spicy. And the drinks were delicious. I’d give it another shot.

Nice atmosphere, yet this newer restaurant still needs some tweaking… the potential is there! The chips were very stale. They brought us less stale chips. Yet, our entrees were absolutely delicious!!! Perhaps removing wires that are literally hanging over a table (see pic) would help, along with fresh, hot crispy chips. Service was a bit slow. I’m thrilled they had a menu, although it was very hard to read, even with glasses.

I have very high standards when it comes to chicken tortilla soup. The best I’ve ever had is in Mexico City, so I seldom order it. Yesterday we went to Zocalo for a quick lunch and I ordered chicken tortilla soup and taco salad. My husband ordered tacos. Both meals were fabulous but the soup was amazing, maybe the best ever. I had planned on making shrimp Cesar salad for dinner until my husband asked, “Do you want the soup we had at lunch?” So we had soup for lunch and dinner. This is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in Metarie. Nice atmosphere, excellent food, attentive staff.

One of the most aggressively bland places I’ve eaten at. It’s a shame that in the an area rich with good food, this spot is selling overpriced, unseasoned, Mexican food. Atmosphere was great, that’s unfortunately all I can say.
