I should preface by saying this is not authentic Japanese food BUT it is an ode to Japanese food with NC ingredients. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. New menu items are presented on the counter where you order (the are not on the online menu) with PICTURES!

Came here on a Friday afternoon. They were next to an Indian spot, I was craving some Asian/Indian.

First time here. I’d go back for the pork belly bao buns and to try a noodle or rice bowl. Didn’t read any reviews before going and didn’t realize these weren’t the type of dumplings I’m used to. The short rib dumplings were OKAY but could have been delicious if they weren’t covered in the sauce. I would have liked to have that option of sauce on the side.

I got the curry udon which was… Interesting. it was like they made beef curry stew and then added udon to it? Like, it literally tasted like beef stew, which imo and in my experience of eating curry udon is a very different flavor from what curry udon normally is. Once I got over the fact that I was eating beef stew straight, it wasn’t bad and I began to enjoy it. I just would not call this curry udon.

Tried the short rib dumplings – absolutely disgusting, very salty. Took them back & got the chicken + ginger dumplings & they were just OK. Would not recommend if you really enjoy dumplings

The service was very quick and friendly, but the food just wasn’t worth the price. The ramen wasn’t much better than what I could’ve made at home, and I’m no cook. For $17 it should be some darn good soup

Ramen was a joke- tasteless broth, soggy noodles. Tofu bowl was overly sweet and sauced. Chewy and inedible Korean Galbi. All went to garbage. $70 gone is a flash. The saving dish was the Dashi fries. Service was nice and prompt. The food was tragic.

Love this style of cuisine and was delighted to see Corner Yaki open in the food hall but was very disappointed with the quality of the food. We had dumplings, bao buns, and a rice bowl. In general the food was cold and bland. Rubbery karaage that tasted like it had been cooked earlier in the day and reheated. Silver lining was that the man working the counter was very friendly (5-stars for counter service)!

Really disappointed in the chicken and ginger dumplings. There were seven of them, each about one inch (or less) wide (for $12). The dumplings were dense and didn’t seem to be warmed up enough. Service was fast, but that’s only because everything was precooked and microwaved. The only flavor was salt. How hard would it be to add some miso or turmeric or lemongrass? I tasted no ginger at all.

Tried the rice bowls here (the chicken one and beef short rib) and they were excellent with lots of flavor. I also really appreciate that they use local & sustainable Firsthand Foods & Joyce farms meats. Definitely will be back.
