I have been to Mr chow several times before Covid and I was generally delighted on those occasions. Before this last visit I saw some bad reviews and i mostly dismissed them, but i was disappointed with the food overall.

One of THE most classic Chinese joints in NYC. The white prawns here may be one of the best Chinese dishes on earth.

The audacity. Food was awful. 90% of waiting stuff looked miserable. Vermicelli with lobster didn’t invite lobster to the party smh. Everything was greasy and had no flavour. Just smothered in grease and oil. For the prices they charge I’d expect the finest flavours of Asia. Almost feels like the food was picked up from rubbish Chinese place, warmed up and served it with a very generous amount of oil. Couldn’t even stomach half of dishes we ordered- it was so bad. You’d 10/10 get better food at food truck- and I am being nice to say that.

Beautiful restaurant, very nice service…. Food not so much!!! I was surprised in how below average the food was here, I can get better food at a neighborhood Chinese take out. $280 for a major disappointment.

While the service was exceptional, unfortunately, the food tasted bad. The spaghetti felt like eating a 99 cent ramen. On a positive note, the staff was attentive and went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. However, the seats were terrible – we were seated right behind a wall, and there was nothing to be seen. For a $400 dinner, it was a disappointing experience to have such a poor view while dining. In summary, while the service was top-notch, the food and seating arrangements left a lot to be desired.

Overpriced AS HECK. honestly they’re just selling their name. The food was not great- it was okay, and trust me on this because I never go to fancier restaurants. My takeout order from any cheap asian restaurant has more flavor than this. The restaurant itself was quite pretty and the service was great, but paying this much for mediocre food is outrageous. Don’t go here unless you don’t care about your food’s quality and value.

Beyond stupid pricing. Steamed rice is $16. Lol. We have eaten here several times, it’s fine, but much prefer many good Sichuan places across the city (not even Chinatown). Plenty of rich New Yorkers and wanna-bes out there to support this place. I value my hard earned money. This place gets a zero on the value for money scale.

BEWARE!!!!!! Mr Chow is a horrible restaurant with even WORSE service and WORSE management. The food was cold, bland and flavorless. The tables were smashed together so tight it was difficult to pass by. THE BATHROOM WAS DISGUSTING The crowd was screaming and loud. The maitre d’ Chobi was extremely rude AND has racist micro-aggressive statements when we complained about the experience.
