..stopped in for a appetizer and a drink..ordered the hummus plate (with pita and cucumber chips) and a beer..the pita chips were overcooked and crunchy and there was Feta cheese mixed into the hummus even tho I had said that I didn’t want it..the service (I sat at the bar) was okay, nothing particularly special..it was getting close to closing time so I think the employees thinking about getting out of there. .very nice atmosphere/aesthetic and clean..overall, not bad..will have to go again to get a better feel for the place..

Employees were very kind and friendly. They have a great seating area outside and the inside is just very well decorated. Food is absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend trying the brie cheese pastry.

The best meat sauce I’ve ever had on pasta, and being Italian that says a lot, definitely recommend. Nice outdoor patio and a decent selection of cocktails and mocktails. Really enjoyed dinner here and will be back again!

Good food, service, and a fantastic wine selection. Very generous portions too – especially if you order pasta! We had the lemon garlic shrimp pasta and the spinach artichoke penne, and shared the pimento cigars for an app. Fried items were nice and crispy, and the cream sauces for the pasta were both delicious. We wound up taking some of our pastas home to have for lunch the next day. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu items and the huge wine selection.

This was my 4th time here and the food is always food, as well as the service. The only thing that would really put it over the top is some dimmer lighting to give it a more intimate feeling since the tables are pretty close to one another. I would like to highly suggest the pimento cigars, the espresso martini AND the caprese chicken sandwich.

COME HERE! Delicious food + contains plus excellent service. You just can’t beat the summer patio experience at HopScotch & Vine! Cutest corner in downtown Plainfield! Carol was the sweetest server! The “Smoke+Daisy” & “Kiss from a Rosé” cocktails were FABULOUS! My hubby had the “Son of Juice” IPA (by Maplewood)… Stuffed Mushrooms + Bruscetta. – great appetizers!! The Dijon Salmon was cooked perfectly & the Fish & Chips were super yummy!! Just a lovely spot for a delicious evening! Are the lemon cake so quickly that I forgot to take a photo… YUM!

7 of us, was told kitchen closed at 10, o problem we wanted to be quick too, we arrived at 845. Sat at 9. Staff was all rude and ignored us from the beginning. Waitress came up to us after about 10 min, we gave drink orders, wife and I ordered martinis. Waitress came up again about 10 min later and said, “sorry about the drink delay the bartender is on the phone with the manager/owner and it might be a while”. After 35 minutes of waiting for our drinks, I went to the bar, where the bartender was leaning against the bar texting on his phone, I asked again for our drinks which came shortly after. By now the did was delivered and most was good except for the pasta which was obviously older since it was hard and not fresh. We couldn’t complain because we never saw our server again until I went and found her to pay the bill. Honestly, if they want to be out of there by 9 then close the kitchen by then. We would have ordered more drinks and dessert but never saw our server again. We also would have been finished and out of there sooner if service was better. We still left by 10, and several others were still there . Bottom line, service was horrible with no sign of management in sight.

We dined during the week, ample tables available. Pimento cigars appetizer recommended by Mary, our server were delicious with a sweet honey/chili sauce, crispy on the outside , rich and gooey on the inside. 2 “cigars” per order. For entrees we had the Kansas city flatbread, which had nice chunks of white meat and BBQ sauce, filling for the average appetite and the chicken caprese sandwich, with fresh mozzarella and a balsamic glaze. Would order both again. Service by Mary was exceptional, very attentive, spot on with recommendations and friendly hospitality. I would recommend this village eatery for tasty, fresh ingredients, most meats sourced from local butcher. Indoor and outdoor patio seating. Desserts are worth saving room for or to take home! Try the lemon cake!

My husband and I frequent this quaint eatery often as the food quality is superb and their drinks to die for…especially the root beer float martini DELISH! While service has always been friendly and attentive, they seem to always be understaffed.
