Being in the shop reflects this. A friendly, familiar face that greets you as you walk in and genuinely is excited to get to know you while making your coffee. With floor to ceiling windows that look out onto the neighborhood, this small shop was never built for the volume we so gratefully experience now. On weekend mornings we are at times standing-room only, but in the most warm, loving way one could imagine. Our friends and neighbors are multi-generational, multi-cultural and full of stories and life.

Cute place with awesome vibes! The espresso and pour over I got were fantastic. My wife got a blackberry latte and it was phenomenal. There is quality in the coffee and you can taste the love and care taken in the preparation! Definitely take the time to stop by.

Absolutely adore this coffee shop. I went here about 6 or 7 years ago after visiting the nearby Matress Factory and fell in love with the coffee shop model. This one has an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Seating is limited but the people will likely be more than happy to share. Staff is top-notch and incredibly helpful. Prices are okay along with the coffee. I got a Cappuchino and noticed it was a little burnt but not so much for it to ruin the drink for me. Overall if you’re looking for a good coffee shop with a memorable experience this is the place.

Really fantastic coffee. This is a well run spot and you can tell they really care here. Glad to see people committed to something done well. Great place to relax, meet up with people, or take care of a little work.

such a great local coffee shop and location. they have great food and food options. food trucks will sell outside their store some days. the small inside can get busy, but the little park across the street is a great alternative to sit and has shade.

I drove 20+ min to go here specifically because they had pour over coffee on the menu, but when I got there they were “out of pour over” which kind of bothered me since we drove past 15 other cafes to go specifically to this one. And how is a coffee shop “out of” pour overs? Not sure. Anywho, I got an espresso instead, and didn’t tip. But let me tell you that espresso was the best I’ve had all year! Very good, no bitterness at all. It was bright and strong with wonderful mouth feel. Thought I should leave at least a good review.

A sweet little spot in Pittsburgh’s Mexican War Streets neighbourhood. Friendly, quick service and tasty breakfast burrito. Lovely to sit outdoors and feel the warm sunshine! Literally within steps of the celebrated Mattress Factory art space. Only wish your menu were larger.

Typical city cafe. Gentrified establishment shoulder to shoulder with the poverty of the N.side and the young business professionals with money to burn.

Great Beer Now
Coffeehouses are popping up everywhere it seems and on a recent visit to Pittsburgh to explore the beer and coffee scenes, I was pleasantly surprised at just how many coffeehouses call the Pittsburgh area home. One of the most popular and best is Commonplace Coffee.

I love this cafe. I’ve been coming here over the nearly seven years I’ve lived in Pittsburgh and always had a great experience. It’s got a lovely neighborhood/community feel, with people walking in and out constantly (so it’s busy; in case you are looking for a quiet place, consider the North Side Public Library!). Today I had a matcha latte sweetened with sweet oak which was delicious and the barista brought the drinks over to our table despite it being quite busy Strongly recommend.
