After after going for a hike at Point San Pablo, my friend and I decided we wanted a bite to eat. I drove us to Point Richmond to the Biancoverde Restaurant that had recently opened in the historic Hotel Mac that was built in 1911.

A hidden local gem. 1920’s style building and old school classy restaurant. Food is great and wine is good value.

Awesome food. Awesome staff. Great ambiance. A little pricey on the menu but you’ll never have a bad meal.

Each room has a different theme, and my friend wanted to treat me to a night away, so he found the Hotel Mac. First of all, we have to come back, because we hadn’t realized that there’s a stunning restaurant on the first floor. Second, Brenda. She is JUST the sweetest person ever, and after fighting traffic to get to Richmond, she just makes everything better. We had the Tally Ho room thanks to her, which had a lovely view and a huge sitting area plus jacuzzi and separate shower. It’s a combination of classic elegance and super comfort, plus for the Bay Area, it is so reasonable. Fenced overnight parking as well.

We recently enjoy this historic and novel venue for a small group dinner. Everyone had been before except for me. So I got to see it with fresh eyes. Wonderfully decorated for the holidays, as you walk in you feel balanced between the present and the past. With it’s long history and well kept interior Hotel Mac offers a wonderful place to visit, catch up and linger over a lovely meal. Well sized portions, good prices and nice selections of offerings help. Even vegans in our group had several options to choose from. Service is ok. Our server while competent, wasn’t especially friendly and came across a bit a few degrees cooler than welcoming. (Maybe it was a bad night or she was working solo- so I’ll give her the benefit of the situational cause). The food was well flavored, hearty and suited for our purposes. With live entertainment drifting up, we were impressed we could still continue on with our table talk. I’d say its a must try for sure!
