The fries were hard as a rock, there wasn’t even a single soft one. The potato salad was nothing but straight onion tasting. My burnt brisket ends were nothing but fat and chewy. The chicken strips were nothing but a soggy mess. The tables were so sticky. Nothing but a horrible experience. Best thing about it was the water. Don’t spend your money here!!

Let’s start with the fact there is no BBQ smell Floating thru the air of the restaurant to say hey we do smoked and BBQ meats. Next they offer Chislic which should be deep fried steak tips but no this is pan fried meat tips with ketchup. The burnt ends we ordered was good but, the fries were just a pile of grease strips. Sadly we won’t be back soon. Most restaurants are relatively busy at 6pm but not here. No hostess needed as business was slow.

I attended a catered: 2 meat, cheesy potato, 2 salad event. The ham and roast beef were very tender and delicious. Cheesy potatoes were a little dry. The Cole slaw was the best ever! Creamy and flavorful! The Ambrosia salad was full of fruit and nuts. It was amazing. Delicious! The service was excellent! Super pleased with it!

Stopped in from out of town and this was the worst place that I have ever been to. You walk in and there is food all over the floors and napkins stuck under the table legs. The tables were sticky and the menus were stuck to the table. They obviously don’t clean anything. The high chair that we grabbed had food caked all over it. I had to ask the waitress to wipe it off. We ordered our food and my son got milk, he drank half of it and realized that it was sour. She brought our food to the table and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for ketchup, 15 minutes later, No ketchup. So I had to go to the bar and ask for ketchup because our waitress was nowhere to be found. The shrimp tasted like it was fried in old oil. It was terrible. Some of the breading on the inside was still raw. The fries were soggy and disgusting. I had a mojito and I don’t think they put any alcohol in it. It just tasted like soda. The boneless chicken wings were 50 cents and they looked like they were just chicken tenders cut up. I asked for the check and 20 minutes later, Still no check. I had to flag her down and she asked me if I was ready for the check. Don’t waste your time or your money at this establishment.

He opens at 5pm and closed at 9pm, but I called early at 3 and he served me anyway! These folks are sweet to customers and full of good towny locals that have good attitudes. My step grandpa was a Texas hero for his brisket and brisket parties (and Usaf). He would approve of the brisket and pulled pork here. I’ve only been here a couple times but Texas would be proud of an unsuspected quality in the middle of Iowa (where they could get away with less but decided not to). If I were anywhere within 60 miles of this place regularly, it would be a date night destination. Real people, real food, right price. Can’t ask for more than that.
