Update 04/2023: Sokolata’s hit it out of the park again today. I’ve been craving a chicken pita and they have the best in the Charleston area. Don’t let the picture fool you, they have plenty of meat on them. The tzatziki and ranch sauces are house-made and so creamy and delicious. House-made chips looked super crispy but weren’t hard; something that’s hit or miss a lot of times with this style chip at other places. The hummus was yummy too. Our little one loved it and ate nearly half the bowl. Husband enjoyed his traditional gyro as always. Service is always friendly and prices are reasonable. I will note that the menu doesn’t have the correct pricing on it and there is an up charge for using credit card, but that’s all normal these days and we don’t care. They also have a large selection of desserts and gelato that’s worth a trip all by itself. We were too full to partake, but I did grab some pics of today’s selection.

Today was my first time trying Sokolata, and I was very happy with my experience. The restaurant itself looked clean and we were taken care of quickly after coming in. We placed our order and had our food within probably 10 minutes. I got the Famous Gyro, some chips, a Cheesecake, and some baklava.

Sokolata is conveniently located on MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston, very close to Thomas Memorial Hospital. Their restaurant has a bright, cheery atmosphere with friendly staff. They offer delicious food and really nice desserts. It’s worth a trip for everyone to try!

We tried this restaurant out and we’re excited to do so. We waited pretty long to be acknowledged and assisted. We got a few things. We paid for double chicken in the gyro, clearly we did not receive it. Our wings weren’t fully cooked. They have beautiful gelato and pastry options. To their credit I called to express my concerns and the young woman that took my call was apologetic & offered to redo our order at our convenience. We later decided against it. The best part of our interaction with the staff was the petite brown skin young lady. She was amazing and professional.

Seated quickly. Had a larger party of people.(10ish people) Service was great and decently quick. Appetizers came out at the same time as the food, some stuff was forgotten but received quickly after. Dessert was meh, crust was super hard. Pizzas were delicious, a little on the softer side crust wise. Moderately priced.

I finally had a chance to stop in to this place. Looking over the menu, it was decently laid out and not overloaded with a grundle of options. I find that eateries with far too many options rarely make everything well, but mostly tolerable. I was greeted as I walked in by a friendly staff member. She was prompt and attentive. Knew the menu well and made recommendations. I chose the Steak Philly. The wait was more than reasonable and the food came out in a good presentation. What I was surprised with, was the thinly sliced potato crisps. They looked fresh sliced from new potatoes and were very crispy. Extremely tasty and a satisfying crunch.

Ordered a Greek side salad that fell flat. Dressing very oily. Lacked flavor. Barely any feta. Also had the gyro. The meat and Taziki sauce were good. The pita was so tough I couldn’t eat it. My 1st time here and not with coming back.
