After years of coming here, I am disappointed with the service today. I ordered tacos and they were fine but my friend ordered tacos al pastor and they had a weird smell almost rancid. We informed the girl working at the restaurant and she however insisted they were fine but we knew they were off because we have been coming for years and they have never smelled like that; you can tell when something is fresh and when something is almost going bad. We then decided not to eat the tacos because we didn’t want to risk my friend getting sick which you would think would be something this place of business would find quite concerning. She didn’t offer any solution she just kept insisting they were fine but why risk it. We had no problem paying for the food but I would’ve appreciated them offering a new order of fresh tacos. We thought they have to understand sometimes that happens and you have to own up to it so which is why we respectfully let her know about what was going on. I. The end we just paid for everything, we didn’t want to argue so we just paid and left. I never really complain but in this occasion I felt it was right to inform about this situation. Whenever we are in Riverhead this is the must place to go. I love tamales and they have some of the best I ever tasted. Usually one person will speak English to help gringos with their oder. Paper and plastic dining in a tiny restaurant but very authentic home cooking.
