I wanted to like this place. The pictures I had seen of the remodel looked nice. It also has a new vegan menu that I wanted to support. When I got there, holy Batman! I understand it’s “Heroes” but Batman is the only hero observed here and it feels like a fanboy’s basement. It’s just too much. The staff was nice though. Tried two of the vegan dishes. The spicy fried cauliflower was way too salty and the cucumber rolls, while not bad, were way overpriced. It’s just 5 or 6 long-ways sliced, thin cucumbers, smeared with a tiny bit of avocado paste, and then rolled…for $13. Should be around $6 or $7. I support vegan options but I don’t appreciate paying a vegan tax for something so basic.

Ordered our food at 5:30, never got it so I let them know at 6:35 that we didn’t get our food and the waitress admitted she forgot to put our order in. I was super nice and said it was no big deal. 35 minutes later still no food, so I went back up to the counter and they seemed confused and offered to comp us the price of the food. Which we were confused about as we never received anything. They then offered to do it To-Go stating “its almost ready, it’s about to come out”, we said okay, and waited another 15 minutes and still no food. We left. Very disappointed….. They charged us for the drink we ordered, and acted like comping the food we didn’t receive was helpful…

Food wasn’t good (fish was mushy and breading wasn’t good, coleslaw was mostly purple cabbage that was very, very spicy). If you dare comment about it, they will not grant any customer service concessions nor offer any other food to try, but instead they get upset at you and state that it is all deep fried and that the other guy ate it and didn’t complain. Did not feel welcome to return. Certainly not going to give them any more of my hard earned money. Bummer. I had high hopes. Had they handled it better, I may have given them another try.

Would go to the new location and almost every time be told you can’t sit at tables because they are reserved for people wanting to play the in-house bar games like Family Feud, Trivia, etc, BUT the final straw to not return was the price hike on the beer prices by 75 cents in one shot up to $7.75 a pint (and they usually are short pours) and Heroes doesn’t brew, it’s distributor provided. No other taphouse in Salem has not come close to gouging like Heroes has on their beers and if it is more it’s 20 ounce beers and much better craft brews. Heroes greed will be a problem for them since their beer pricing is pricing them out they can’t compete with B2 or Tsunami or Sparky’s or West Side Taphouse or any of the others for good beer. It was greed not need by Heroes. Drink and dine elsewhere.
