This diner turned out to have some of the best food in the area. The cuisine was a vibrant mix of southern comfort and New Mexican. Everything was well portioned and delicious. Unfortunately, the Chocolate Cake was a little on the dry side. The customer service was pleasant and homely. The atmosphere was relaxed and definitely had the small town feel going for it. I would definitely recommend a visit.

What a great quaint little cafe! The pancakes were fluffy and sweet, the bacon was cooked to a perfect crisp, and the bargain prices will keep me coming back to this Smokey the Bear institution. Super quick and friendly staff, too!

We were traveling through the area on a road trip and stopped into Smokey bear for lunch. The New Mexico steak sandwich might be the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The cheesecake is amazing. The service was fantastic! Highly recommend

This is a family owned restaurant and it didn’t disappoint in any way. The service was the best we’ve had in a looooooong time. The food was excellent and the prices were exceptional. Definitely worth stopping for!

We loved the traditional café decor. It reminded us of the cafés we loved to eat in when we were younger. The menu was varied and extensive with breakfast served all day. Absolutely, some of the best food we have had in the area. I have never had better tater tots. Next time in the area we will drive to Capitan to eat there again.

Ate here 10x last Summer, all meal times, food excellent and service great. 1st nite back this year, we just knocked down chicken fried steak and a hamburger steak. They do not disappoint. Support the family business!

We loved stopping for a bite to eat at this little restaurant. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. In fact everyone in this restaurant was awesome. The food was pretty good. The price wasn’t bad at all. All in the family approved of what they ate. There were also lots of neat memorabilia to see from Smokey The Bear. The best part was getting to eat at the 50’s style counter. Over all we enjoyed the experience.

Rustic and charming. The food was decent. Service was slow. Had to wait 15 minutes to get a refill on my coffee. The waitress was not busy with customers, but we had to flag down a different waitress to ask for more.
