Our second trip to El Zorrito wasn’t nearly as good as the first time. This time there was a dank moldy smell in the dining room. Our food came out quickly but it was bland and barely hot. I didn’t care for the flavor of the ground beef. The Diet Pepsi was great. And the Mango lemonade my wife had was good also. We will b back in Shipshewana but we won’t b eating here again.

I’ll start off with the good, the restaurant has amazing customer service! Everyone that goes there (at least when I went) goes in big groups, I went in with a party of 13 & the staff was kind enough to join a bunch of tables together to sit us. Shortly after we arrived 3 more large parties arrived making it a full house. You get free unlimited Chips & Salsa!! Most of the workers are Hispanic & I’m pretty sure that the cooks are also Hispanic (most likely Mexican), but sadly the food is not 100% authentic Mexican. The horchata was not sweet & creamy it tasted pretty watered down. They don’t have many options on meets for their “Mexican tacos” so I just played it safe & ordered Asada (steak), the tortilla used was the white corn tortilla (most Mexicans prefer yellow as it has a less processed taste, but I don’t know how hard it is to find Mexican products in Shipshewana). One of my party members ordered there tacos with rice & beans, the beans lacked seasoning tasting like (not that they are, they just taste like it) they came directly out of the can…and the rice…I believe the restaurant calls it Spanish (as in Spain) rice REALLY REALLY wish they would just make regular Mexican rice because it is 10x better than this Spanish rice. Another one of our party members ordered green enchiladas (**correction: Enchiladas Anita) which she didn’t end up liking. The customer service was great but would I come back? Mmmm…maybe I’ll look for another place to try next time(:

Worst part of our trip to Shipshewana! Never told they charged for what is usually complimentary chips and salsa, brought to table with out asking. If charging you should ask if we want them! $4.50 for a flat tasting soda. Young Amish boy trying to be a waiter, with obviously no training or supervisor. 3 out of 5 got wrong food! With no apology for having to wait for what we ordered. Food was tasteless, only time waiter returned was to say “when you go, pay there”, and pointed in direction of register. Was not presented a bill. Went to register to our surprise, bill was outrageous. A 16.99 fajita with a soda, came out to over $36.00. That’s when we found out chips and salsa was extra, with no refills. Was never told tip was included, so the little untrained inexperience waiter was double tipped. When questioning the bill, which we still did not see, the girl said “I don’t know, I was not your server”. Very poor customer service. Restaurant has no atmosphere and could also use to be cleaned and updated. A total waste of money. I will never return, nor suggest this place to anyone! I plan on calling the Chamber of Commerce and discussing this being a downside to our Shipshewana experience.

We were nervous at first after seeing some reviews but are so glad we tried it ourselves. The food was excellent. Service was faster than Bluegate Buffet! Variety of menu items. Highly recommend.

We got seated and waited for 10 minutes. No one took our order or even came to the table. People that came in after we sat there for 10 minute got seated and chips right away. We got up and walked out. Would not recommend.

Our chips & salsa were brought quickly, though it was about 1 cup of salsa for 7 people. We waited 20 min for our drinks. It took 50 min to get our food h it was not hot. We had to leave for a meeting & had 5 min to eat! When we paid, we were not told the gratuity had been added to our bill & we all double tipped them. A steak fagitta with drink & cheese was over $30, not including double tip! We had 1.5 hrs to eat before our meeting & chose a Mexican restaurant because of usual fast & reasonable pricing. In this case, we couldn’t have been more wrong!

If you are looking for good Mexican food…. DON’T EAT HERE!!!!! The food is horrible and over priced!!!! Very poor customer service! You are not served even one complimentary basket of chips & salsa. Want a pop plan on spending $4.50 for a glass of flat pop.

We stopped in about an hour and a half before closing, we had about 15 people with us when we came in. Getting in was fine, took a minute to get situated, as it would with a large group.
