Hard Hat Tavern in Durham is the place that locals always frequent and foodies always find! Delicious food in a pub atmosphere. We are know for our Doob wings which are seasoned, fried and grilled, making them a smoky twist on the classic buffalo wing. Our burgers and sandwiches are gourmet. Our chefs are always looking to bring out new flavors and to bring in seasonal items through our weekly specials.

My husband and I absolutely loved the food, service and everything about our dining experience at Hard Hat Tavern in Durham. My husband says that the Bison Burger was the best burger he’s ever had. You can tell that temperature and timing is important to the kitchen. It was perfectly medium and left no grease or juice on the plate. We also had the nachos, which were great. I had the chopped steak salad, which was fresh and the steak was perfectly cooked as well. Plus, the drinks were delicious! We have definitely found our new go-to for restaurant.

Pretty restaurant and our server was sweet but overwhelmed. The food was subpar and when I added Mac & cheese to take home to my daughter I got a dry cold scoop of craft Mac n cheese for $11. I called to talk to a manager and was told it should’ve had fries, fruit cup and a drink. He offered me a free appetizer or beer if I returned. I will not be back. Also, I have been in the business for 30 years and still tipped well because I know it’s not an easy job but bad service and bad food are a deal breaker.

Glad to have a nice, new local restaurant in the location. The food is very good. We tried the Doob wings which are nice and crispy. We tried the California Cobb and Hard Hat salads and thought they were both well prepared. The fries were a bit soggy with the chicken tenders kids meal, but that sometimes is exacerbated by take out containers. Those 4 dishes were about $80, which is a bit in the higher side. However, when we come back and try their not main dishes I will gladly upgrade my review to a 5 star.

Ordered to go today around lunch time. It was not busy at all when picking up. I stood in the front for 5 minutes waiting then had to go to the car to get my phone to call the restaurant to tell them I arrived. The person said he was packing my order but it was sitting there in the front when I arrived. I wasn’t gonna leave a review until I looked and they didn’t even give me soup crackers. Like really 40 bucks to just get ignored and not even get crackers. Very disappointed.
