I love finding the not so well known hidden treasure restaurants and this is DEFINITELY one of them. I’m still thinking about that bologna sandwich…2 months later. Im ready to drive 80 miles for this!!!!We’ll be back soon. (And I see a lot of comments on the wait. Remember GOOD things take time. It’s a small locally owned business and I hope they stay just like that. The wait is just part of the experience. U will be happy u flexed ur patience)

I hadn’t been to Captain John’s in a couple of years. So I decided to drop by after visiting the park. My family enjoyed the great service, fresh and good barbeque, sweet tea, and the nostalgic atmosphere. Thanks for the memories !

Burger and BBQ are both good, and they have a rotation of daily specials based on the day of the week. Just don’t get the sweet tea, typically tastes like there are traces of coffee in it.

First i stood in line for 25 minutes. Then i was given the wrong order and stood awhile longer. Then i tasted it. The worst coleslaw ever. Wasn’t sweet, wasn’t sour, just a big ol glob of mayonnaise. Y’all can have it. Im not from here so I’ll just go to my barbeque place at home. We know how to do GOOD southern food.

Y’all, I know this is the south, and I know there are little independent bbq places all over, and I know everybody swears their favorite place is the best in the world, but folks, I’m telling it to you straight this place has some of the absolute best bbq in the entire world. To share a family secret, my parents won first place in bbq pork shoulder at Memphis in May in 1983, so having grown up eating championship level bbq, take my word and give this place a try. You will not regret it.
