The food truck came out to the convention center during the week. I was attending our fraternity international conference held at the Tampa Bay convention center. At the conclusion of our meetings, I was hungry but really didn’t want restaurant food. I spotted the food truck and decided to check it out. They had a lot of choice to choose from, bit I chose the fried chicken, collard greens and baked beans. It was great !!! Will see if they are there for the rest of the week and will try other items from the menu.

Been going since they had the food truck. Food is great! Collards have oxtails in them like real southern style. Ribs are the best I’ve ever had. The plates are worth the price; a lot of food. If you’re looking for REAL southern home style food, definitely go to Heavy’s!

Fresh and flavorful authentic Soul Food on the South Side. This hidden gem doesn’t look like much from the street but the dining room is cozy and bright. The “Michelle Obama ‘ – a sweet Kool-Aid and lemonade concoction is worth the trip down 22nd St.

This is the best meal I have eaten in months. I came across Heavy’s restaurant by chance . The portions are massive for the price and you will leave with a full belly and a happy soul. The people inside the store are very kind and I will definitely be back to pick up dinner there again.

Very nice shop, great food, huge portions! We ended up here after leaving indian restaurant across street, where food was so spicy…. Heavy’s was a most welcoming environment, we regret not coming here 1st.

Just stopped in looking for somewhere local to eat lunch with my kids.. while the menu is obviously more to adults taste buds.. the customer service was awesome! Friendly, clean, decent prices. She was kind enough to put together a “kids meal” (fried chicken & rice) & discount price…which was all off menu. Just goes to show great service still exists. 1st time but hope to return & try more.

Love that Heavy’s has a restaurant. Didn’t dine in, but seating area looked cozy. Hubby got chitlins, rice, Mac and cheese and greens. I got the oxtails, greens and black-eyed peas. A little pricy but worth it. Good food and decent portion.
