Ehkaya is such a unique and inspired place within the Durham dining scene. There’s nothing quite like this experience and this food here. They really tell an amazing story through these dishes and the environment in the dining room.

Everything was phenomenal. The rice ball has my favorite, followed by their signature cocktail. Just amazing flavors all around and very friendly and helpful staff as well. I could not have asked for a better experience.

I had been here a few times for drinks (and almost brunch lol). I finally went for dinner, and it did not disappoint. You can really tell a restaurant is good if their vegetable dishes are good. I will absolutely be back with more people.

This is a wonderful concept from Chef Zweli. African food is hard to find in the US in general and definitely in the Triangle area, and the idea of Bantu Tapas is a deliciously radical concept that is exquisitely executed in this place located in Downtown Durham. Loved our cocktails and our large and small plates! Looking forward to being back.

Authenticity is their originality, you cannot fake a good southern African, Zimbabwean inspired culinary tour and education on these wonderful dishes is a part of the process, that is if you shall need it. The atmosphere was stellar, quiet and reserved as if the walls new what was about to be delivered. Delivered it was…plantains compliments of the chef. Then we order, as it’s standard to order your whole course at once. We started creamed spinach, seasonal green salad, followed by Suya chicken kabobs. Our entree was Bobotie, a dish we shared. The dessert was Magwinya, yum, yum ditty!

We stumbled across this place on accident and couldn’t be happier. we arrived right before the kitchen closed so didn’t order food, but we did enjoy some great cocktails and mock tails from the bar. the service is incredible. everyone is friendly and engaging. we even met the owner of the restaurant who came and introduced himself to us. he told us he and his wife own the spot. black excellence through and through. we will definitely be returning to try the food.

Wow! Wow! This place was phenomenal. An amazing addition to the Durham food-scene. Everything was out of this world – especially (and maybe surprisingly the veggie/vegan dishes)
