Very nice place and food is always good. Busy spot so be patient with the staff they are nice and friendly and try their best to get you everything you need as fast as they can. I love coming here but the parking is a bit rough no fault of the marketplace or local oyster just a heads up of you want to check them out. It’s worth it

Cream based crab soup is excellent. Steamed shrimp were delicious as well. Great atmosphere in a stall style restaurant market.

I got the Chesapeake Club and was not disappointed. Add local oysters and local beer, and the place has something for everyone.

Good local oysters shucked in real time. Watch out for shell fragments but quality is otherwise good.

In the mood for fresh oysters this was a recommendation. Street parking available on a weekday after 6pm. This place could be so much more if better managed the waitress and waiter were excellent but it could better. We ordered roasted oysters, fresh oysters and oyster basket sorry only pics of oyster basket. The food was great the drinks were great. They probably need to have a dedicated cashier, oyster shucker and bar tender for a much better experience for customers. Oh the Mayo old bay mix was a substitute for tarter sauce I’m still on the fence with that combination.

There is no sign outside of the building but the address is correct. The whole place is a food court w about 10 or so different food shops inside. The Local Oyster offers limited type of food but their oysters are fresh. The service is great and family friendly. Some limited outside seating. Meter parking only.

Stopped in with my wife and my sister for one thing after watching “Fresh, Fried and Crispy” on Netflix — the “Colossal Sandwich”. This spot is one of the most popular spots inside the hip, Mount Vernon Marketplace. Before sitting down, we did a quick lap of the marketplace and it was obvious this place was special. Buzzing with folks around the bar and at the high tops, it felt like a place where you just want to hang out.

The 4.3 stars deceived me. I’m visiting Baltimore briefly, and I had high hopes about the seafood based on everything I’ve heard. I refuse to believe this many people found this place appetizing. I refuse. I ordered the fried shrimp sandwich, and it was impractical, so I ate a couple of the fried shrimp to make it less messy and bulky. Thankfully, I was back at my hotel, so I could manage the mess if I wanted to be brave. The fries that came with the sandwich tasted like fingers, and I am not too keen on cannibalism, so I abandoned them. Then I opened the Grandma’s crab soup I got, had a bite and gently closed the container because I’d had enough. I love getting Mexican shrimp soup when I visit Mexico City and this was a chunky dip with crab bits and things. The taste was not appealing.

Food was decent. The colossal sandwich is definitely not as it’s name described. Not worth the 39 bucks! The staff was very friendly and the drinks were great. They use all fresh fruit.
