Truman’s is one of a kind! When an old man in town tells you about a true “fish camp” out in the middle of nowhere….you go. You know you’re in for a treat when you spot the rusted old sign in front of the building……walk in and get greeted by folks wearing aprons wiping corn meal off her hands. The staff was absolutely awesome!! So friendly! Made you feel like you were in their own home having dinner. And the catfish…OMG. Sooooo good!!! The hush puppies were the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot! The cole slaw was delicious! It’s been decades since I’ve experienced a true old school fish camp. I’m so happy to find they still exist!

It’s been over 12 years since the first time eating here… I remember why now. Ten tables full of people there when we got there waiting on food. We waited 45 minutes after ordering before we were served. Old and cold French fries, fish over cooked, hush puppies were the only thing worth eating. Would not recommend

First time ever coming here. In fact, didn’t know it existed until someone told us about it. One word: AMAZING!! I had the Cajun shrimp, and my husband had the whole catfish. All of it was delicious!! As we were leaving, they gave us a bowl with fried crab claws and oysters to try since it was our first time here. Equally delicious! Plus, the people are super nice and friendly! Definitely will be going back!!

Let me start off my apologizing for not having any pictures. I was so surprised when the food came out that immediately began eating. The food was great. The staff was super nice and made us feel at home. The building isn’t that big. The prices have increased, like everything in this economy, but you get your money’s worth. I ordered the seafood platter and I couldn’t eat it all. The kids enjoyed their food also. If you are in the area and want some really good seafood, please stop by!

One of the last and truest old school restaurants around – locally family owned by people with deep roots in Elmore County. They’re not trying to keep up with anyone, they’re just doing their thing and doing it well. The hush puppies will take you back in time. The eatin’s good y’all.
