Javi’s Taco Shack (formerly El Mejor Taqueria) first opened its doors in downtown Visalia in the Fall of 2008. It began with the promise of using the finest ingredients and the most exceptional service. Javi’s Taco Shack expanded in December of 2011 adding a bakery featuring freshly baked Mexican pastries, breakfast menu, coffee and fresh fruit, all in a comfortable environment and official becoming one of the most popular restaurants in downtown Visalia, famous for its weekly specials, express menu and late night dining experience. Javi’s Taco Shack, Me & my daughter & my daughter’s best friend & her daughter we all came here for “Taco Tuesday” & the food was so delicious & so yummy! I got the #8 Two Quesabirrias Combo & my daughter got the #5 Three Taquitos Combo & some corn chips & guacamole on the side & also Two Taco Chico Tuesday Special $2ea & the green chili salsa was mild & not hot at all but it was very good! My husband and I had been anxious to try Javi’s so we went on taco Tuesday. First, the handicapped seating left a lot to be desired and my husband couldn’t really sit next to me. Second, while the tacos tasted great, I got sick all the way home.

Food tastes bad here. The nachos are unappealing, greasy tasting. It used to be good when they first opened, but it’s no longer the case. The service is slow as well. To top it off, prices went up quite a bit. $8 for this massive amount of bad tasting food. A fail in many ways.

We had them cater our company picnic this last weekend and they did an AMAZING job! Very professional and courteous!! They were on time and on top of everything. The food was absolutely delicious and everyone scarfed it down so fast I couldn’t capture a picture of the food!! If you haven’t tried them yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

Update: this place no longer offer Tuesday Thursdays and Sunday $1 tacos. It’s now 1.25. Yes it’s just. 25 over taco but it hadds up when ordering for a family. I might just go to a Mobile taco shack now. Reason I liked to go to javi because it was cheap. It’s rare to find a place that sells tacos for a buck. If the taco was a bigger size I would say 1.25 is nice but it’s the small taco. Taco picture is asada.
