My husband and I just happened upon this place and ordered a few tacos to go. They were absolutely amazing and I can say without exaggeration that it was the best taco I ever ate. Needless to say, we went back for more the same night. I have recommended to every person I know that’s going to Waynesville for any reason. The folks are very nice and the food is amazing! Highly recommend!

My family loves this place! Since I don’t live in the area I only eat here when visiting and it never disappoints. My favorite dish is the choripollo. If you haven’t tried it yet then you are missing out! I love the vibe here too. The owners and employees are passionate about preparing and serving delicious authentic Mexican food with a customer service experience that only a local family owned business can provide.

My husband and I ate at El Pobre recently and it was fantastic. We both had the fajitas. Portions were large and very tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Can’t wait to go back soon to try some other items on their menu.

What a wonderful restaurant!! What great food and what an amazing family running it! If you’re looking for the best Mexican food in Waynesville, this is the place! I tried the torta, and it was wonderful. My girlfriend loved her food as well. I like that it’s a family-run business. I’d give it 6 stars if I could. Jennifer and Ricardo are the best!

Not good. Overpriced, underwhelmed. Half of the restaurant was closed. You can’t even order at the table due to lack of menus. Everything was served on paper plates. I was unimpressed with my tacos.

I’ve been eating at their locations since the first opened up in Bethel. This was in high school, and now my own high schoolers have eaten here! We don’t get to as often anymore after moving to TN, but we still stop to pester them when given the chance.

El Pobre never disappoints. In Haywood County, we have an abundance of Mexican restaurants, but the most consistent is El Pobre. During the COVID lock downs, we were concerned that they would not be opening back up. I went thru El Pobre withdrawal.

I don’t usually go for the non-meat options but I gave their vegetable fajitas a shot and I’m happy to say I ate ALL my veggies. And the rice. And the bean dip. And the chips. It took me two days though because they gave me so much!
