Food was great and very flavorful. The price was great and the workers were friendly. The prices were reasonable especially for the amount of food you got. We got a slice of pecan pie… very delicious. Highly recommend.

If you’re looking for authentic Texas barbecue, Hinze’s Bar-B-Que in Wharton is the place to go. Established in 1973, this restaurant has been serving up some of the finest barbecue in the state for almost half a century.

So I was hoping for a good lunch.the lady at the counter just walked away not finishing my service. I had to have a different lady help me after standing there for about 2 minutes waiting for my recipe. My food came out and that’s how I found out that the receipt was on the printer. The lady decided to go help someone else without finishing my service. Then she didn’t even ask me about the salad I wanted and charged me 10 dollars for this salad that had wilted salad in it. I wanted the house salad not this 10 salad that was not worth it at all. The chop beef sandwich was dry and the bread was hard on the edges. If I wasn’t starving and in a hurry I would have handy it back and asked for my money back. I was told that they had good bbq and was sooo disappointed.

I asked for wet brisket, and I’m not disappointed. It was nice and moist. Not overly smoky, which is a plus for me, but it was kind of plain. Maybe I just needed to add some salt. The barbecue sauce is pretty good and helped with seasoning up the meat. We are new to Whrton and this is our first barbecue venture here. Craving a favorite combo of mine of baked beans and potato salad ….. well the potato salad is kind of whipped with some crunchies in it. I like my potato salad dense and tart. The baked beans is what I enjoyed most. We also ordered the potatoes with onions. Texture was also too light. It needed garlic and bacon fat, lol. Please Quit spreading your potatoes so thin!

Very popular with the locals at lunchtime, always a good sign. I got the sliced beef sandwich, fries, and a drink…everything ala carte…total about $14. I used to think that was pricey but that’s the world we live in these days. It was delicious and portions were ample. I thought maybe the fries were a bit small at first but the sandwich is big enough that the fries were right. The staff was friendly and the crowd filled the place, although I had no trouble finding a table for one. It’s very small town-y, in a good way. Unpretentious. I was just passing through but if I lived nearby it would be a favorite place.

It was my first time going and last. The food wasn’t great the ribs were very hard, burned, the brisket too lean made it dry, mustard greens tasted like frozen greens, but the Mac and cheese was really good. Very disappointed with my food traveled to come here.

So different from the old location. It’s pretty worn-looking from the outside. The inside is … unpretentious.

Stopped through on the way to el campo for a camping trip. Best ribs I have had in a very long time. They have been open since 1970. Worth the stop if you are passing through.
