They took a large group of us without a reservation and were some of the nicest most polite people we had met in a long time. The food was absolutely wonderful. We had a smile on our face from the moment we walked in the door until we left at closing. An absolute must to visit and a definite return to spot.

Mona Lisa restaurant is one of our favorites in all of Sarasota. We eat out a lot: Downtown, Lakewood Ranch, St Armand’s Circle, Longboat Key… you’re not going to find better, more dependable Italian food than Mona Lisa. The owner-hostess is wonderful and the rest of the staff is attentive and professional. The outdoor seating is so peaceful and the inside is cozy and not tight. Meatballs, excellent! Veal picatta, amazing! Seafood fradiavolo, perfection! Fried calamari, linguine carbonara, lasagna, spinach ravioli, chicken parmesan…. the chef is a master.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and had a lovely evening. The table was set with sparkling confetti, the waitress gave us a warm welcome and the bus boy happily took our picture. The food was delicious! We look forward to a next time. Thank you for making our celebration special.

Great food! Service was slow on serving the entrees. Good old world Italian atmosphere, but very busy and noisy, it was Friday with 7pm reservation. That took extra 20ish minutes past 7. I would recommend regardless

Great Italian food with fantastic service. This was our first visit and we sat outside on a covered patio which was very comfortable and not pretentious. The view from the patio is lovely and is in a park like setting with a small lake.

Nice enough place but the food was, at best, mediocre. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing – the special was pork Osso Bucco but it was mostly fat and bone (huge bone – covered 70% of the plate even after fat and little bit of meat was removed). When I complained the response I got was ‘well pork is fatty’. It was pretty much inedible. I was offered to get something instead but elected not to and instead shared my partners meal (a mediocre version of chicken Parmesan). Might have expected some compensation but nothing. Wouldn’t go back there again.

This is a family-owned cozy intimate restaurant where diners feel like family. The food is homemade, absolutely nothing pre-packaged and it shows! It’s one of my absolute favorite restaurants anywhere, including New York City after having lived there for 17 years. Reservations are a must. It’s always justifiably packed. At first glance it looks expensive but it’s worth every penny. Service is impeccable, the wine a real treat and the tastes creatively varied, exquisitely distinct and uniquely delectable.
