This place has a very nice decor and is nicely put together. The floors are made with pecan wood which is a really nice touch and homage to the town. The food is pricey. My meal was good but I could have done with substantially less pasta and the option of getting a side, that would be included in the price of the meal. I ended up ordering a side Cesar salad which was nicely dressed.

Lamb was raw, beef was Well done when ordered medium, everything was soaked in salt and unediable. Waitriss Didnt Care. Manager Didnt Care. It was a horrible experience.

We have eaten here many times and enjoyed it but last night was a disaster (8/24). It was not busy, only a few tables Started off ordering a Makers Mark and water. It was delivered, I tasted it and it was NOT Makers Mark. Sent it back and found out from the waitress that the bartender took it upon themselves to put a house bourbon in my drink since they were out of MM….but still ring it up as Makers and water….hoping I wouldn’t notice. News flash…..bourbon drinkers notice when you try to substitute house whiskey. Next our meal took a long time but we were in no rush. Waitress was great. I ordered grilled shrimp with rice for $20….they set my plate down and I was served 2 small shrimp on a wilted piece of lettuce with a TINY scoop of rice. It was ridiculous!!! I asked for the manager and it took her a while to come out. She blamed the food runner and said he spilled my plate???? Then why on earth would you let it come out of the kitchen like that and say NOTHING!!!! The manager told me they were “giving “ me 3 more shrimp??? My food was cold. Sent it back. The size of the chicken fried chicken was 1/2 the size that it used to be….the manager said there was now a large and small….the menu has 1 price and nowhere does it give a choice of small it large. It seems like they kept the $16 price but now only use 1/2 a chicken breast. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. In all fairness the manager gave us 1/2 off but it was still not happy.

We went on a busy Saturday night so we knew it would be crazy. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive especially Brent! Would definitely add this as a must if you’re in the area.

Food was good, wait staff was in need of some improvements and food wait time was in much need of improvement. Overall good experience just needs to work out the kinks of serving mixups and food to kitchen flow.

Best restaurant in San Saba and possibly the Hill Country! If you’re looking for atmosphere, fabulous food and fair prices, you won’t be disappointed. I’m a creature of habit and always order the brisket queso and bacon wrapped jalapeno’s for appetizer and the chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy for my main meal. YUMMMMMMY! The staff are super kind and very helpful. It’s definitely worth the drive!

Saturday lunch, not busy at all. Service was great! Building is awesome. Sat upstairs, had to wipe some food off the table and chairs from previous customers before we sat down. Garbage on the floor as well. Really wasn’t a big deal. Order was quickly taken and it didn’t take long for food to come out. I had fish and chips. Fish was a bit over cooked, and fries were barely Luke warm to cold. Wife had prime rib sandwich that she said was really good and well prepared. Her fries were also cold though. All in all we enjoyed our lunch but it could have been better.

Our server, Eric, was wonderful!!! My husband and I both enjoyed our food. We both had the pecan salad, and it was yummy! We were here last year, and it was so good, we had to come back!

Misses the mark. Cocktails are plenty good, however steaks are not prime. I don’t care what the menu says. Dry aged ribeye was cooked as good as it could have been considering the quality of the meat. Ribeye was grainy and a little tough. We also had the prime rib. It was a little chewy. Vegetables were all room temperature, no where near hot. Mashed potatoes reminded me of public school mashed potatoes with that little ice cream scoop shape. We ordered two wedge salads, I wish I could review them but we never got them, we ordered them first. $170.00 dinner for two at a steakhouse is fine, as long as it the meat, meets simple standards.
