Decent! We stopped in on a whim while walking by and were pleasantly surprised by the charming interior and tasty German dishes. My favorite was the lentil stew with sausages which was hearty and hit the spot. The sausage was smoky and filling. The pretzel tasted freshly baked and came with an earthy mustard and cheese sauce. The mushrooms were a bit on the salty side but deliciously savory, especially when balanced with the tender, warm sauerkraut and the more mild sausage. Very reasonable prices and decent service on a Thursday evening. I’m curious to try more of their menu. Glad to have this staple of Eat Street!

Gute Zeiten or Good Times now and for sure in the past. Very iconic German food staple in Minneapolis. Family enjoyed the food – home made sausages were perfect and smoked right, pretzel was perfect- out of dipping cheese tho. Potato pancakes were tasty with apple sauce and sour cream. Warm German potato side and sour kraut. Beer garden would have done great to enjoy outside, but was raining. Decor is authentic German decor. Servers were great and engaging. Atmosphere was lacking a bit maybe rainy evening not many diners and music was a bit odd. Love to go on a nice evening with a crowd.

The food was wonderful, and we had an excellent server, Cait, who answered all our questions about the menu and dishes. I would highly recommend a visit to Black Forest Inn for hearty, delicious meals. The atmosphere is very unique and makes for a pleasant experience dining or having a drink at the bar.

We decided to get a late lunch at around 3:00 pm when they opened for the day. Our waitress was not friendly, which wasn’t a huge deal. We found the food to be pretty horrible. The majority of food tasted as if it had been left from the night before and then microwaved. The brats had no juice and tasted reheated. From the pretzel to even the kraut, we felt hugely disappointed. We wanted to love the food and just couldn’t believe this place was still open. With a tip, our bill was 100 dollars. Both of us felt sick into the next day.

Best German food on the west side of the Mississippi. A proud hot potato salad establishment.

I was so excited to come here because I miss my home. And I have to say I’m pretty filled up with good food now and satisfied. The Pork shank was a little fatty and over cooked but besides that it was ok. Spätzle were ok too! Reuben Sandwich was really good. Next time I wanna try the beef Rouladen and Gulasch!!! Also, the server was really friendly and rocked the whole floor by himself

My son enjoyed the lamb shank. Great beer selection. I want to say 4.5 for food because they ran out too early. I wanted Black Forest Cake for dessert. It was still 2 hours before closing. They carry only two desserts. All that was left was apple strudel. I went without. That is bad planning.

It is quite disappointing that the best part of the meal is the packaged butter I used to put on my roll. They called it a brotchen but it was closer to an thick American dinner roll. The pork paprika schnitzel was acceptable but not worthy of ordering a second time. I can say with confidence that I won’t return for a second meal. The restaurant seems that it is German themed not because of good German food, but because it fit in with the other ethnic restaurants in the area.

It was pretty busy at dinner on a Saturday evening (we had a reservation) and we weren’t given beer meus initially so I was not able to order a beer because the server didn’t return after we placed our orders. The food and atmosphere were terrific. Although it was full, it didn’t feel crowded or too loud. Sidenote: There was an interesting bathroom with two toilets in an open space.
