This place has a great vibe. It’s located on the back, bottom floor of an old, historic building in Downtown Brandon. A new parking lot is currently being added, which will be nice. Mudbugs actually has a variety of food choices. Sure, they have crawfish, but also ribs, hot dogs, and burgers. Great place for a big crowd. They usually have some live music on weekends too.

I have been here multiple times and never has the spice been weak!! I love it!! This last time, I brought my family from Southeast Louisiana and several hours after crawfish, shrimp, crab, sausage, potatoes and corn devoured, eyes watering, lips burning, they are still randomly saying “that was some gosh darn good crawfish”.. oh yes we will be back. I apologize for not many pictures, it goes fast everytime !!

I waited nearly 30 mins for take out crawfish and shrimp- 2 pounds. I tried to call it in and the lady said we will when you get here. I don’t understand the operations and the wait for already cooked food… this is the second time this has happened. Service for takeout sucks.

I would not recommend this location. However the company as a whole is good. I enjoy the customer service at Old Fannin but for two years straight this location has lacked quality customer service mixed with racism. I informed the owner about this last year. I will not be back at this location.

My wife and I are very fond of “crawfish” (intentionally misspelled) and have eaten them at every location in the Jackson area. Mudbugs 042 is, by far, the best place for these tasty critters! One of the most defining qualities of good crawfish is that they will “strip-out” while eating them. That is to say, when you pull off the tail and grip the exposed tail meat with your fingers or teeth, give the end of the tail a little pinch and pull; the tail meat should come out of the shell. Anybody can make them spicy (and MB does) – just dump the seasoning in the boiling water and you have spicy. The trick is the cooking time and the finish. If you cook them too long, they become rubbery and the tail meat will simply break off and will not strip-out. There is nothing worse than having to peal every single tail, layer by layer, to get to the coveted tail meat inside. At MB042, the tails strip out 99.99% of the time!!! Whoever is in charge of the cooking, please give that person a raise and keep him/her happy!

Great place for eating crawdads and shrimp and all of the stuff that goes along with it. Almost no waiting. The food was spicy and the beer was cold. Order stuff here by the pound and eat yourself silly. Definitely need to stop by next time you’re headed through Brandon.

The crawfish and shrimp were good. The only thing was that it was too spicy for me. I would have rather tasted more flavor than just hot. My lips were on fire. My husband loved it because he loves spicy food. My youngest had the wings and she did not like them. She’s not a BBQ sauce eater so I was wondering why she chose those, but other than that, it was ok.
