What was supposed to be a quick stop on a short road trip has turned into a new favorite spot. We got a flight of beers (5) based on those that intrigued us most. I ended up with the old world cider and my spouse got the Bateau Brown. We each left with a half growler.

About a mile & a half from downtown Mackinaw City, this brewery has a welcoming outdoor space. The beers are pretty good and come in some unique styles ( a Latvian farmhouse ale was interesting). I might have enjoyed them more if they weren’t in plastic cups. The food was excellent: we had a delicious smokey, spicy brisket sandwich and a flavorful Italian panini. We had a pleasant chat with the owner and encourage others to check this place out.

Although not a fan of craft beer, my group and I decided to visit this establishment due to our proximity to it while camping near the area. Unfortunately, the Canadian wildfires made it difficult to enjoy Lake Huron, so we sought refuge at this place to soak up some sun and unwind with some beer.

Excellent outdoor seating area, dog friendly with picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of space. The beer was very good with lots of variety. We sampled quite a few offerings, and every pour tasted fresh and well balanced. The food offerings were limited but diverse enough to accommodate. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. While Mackinac City was feeling a bit too tourist trap for our liking, Biere de Mac had the hospitality and care we had been hunting for while on vacation.

The new small menu packs a punch, I had the herb roasted pulled pork sandwich and my wife had the brisket, both were excellent. The smoked white fish dip is the best in Mackinaw City, we’ve tried it at all the restaurants in town, Biere De Mac does it the best! And the the brews were awesome as well, my personal favorite was the Bateau Brown.

Stopped here because the reviews were really good and it was close to the highway on our way back home to Grand Rapids. The menu was extremely limited and they were out of pulled pork and brisket so that left us with even more limited options. It took 45 minutes for food and we ended up eating it in the car. If you’re on somewhat of a schedule do not stop here. Beers were ok but not worth the stop. The food they had showcased in older reviews looked much better.

Popped in the other day on our journey home from a trip around Lake Superior. Best damn brisquette sandwich I’ve had in years. The craft brews were also excellent. The food is very complimentary to the craft brews. Not too much, not too little. Awesome. I don’t remember the bartender or cooks name(sorry!)

The beer is good. We had the session ipa and the blonde ale. Very nice facility with a great backyard for you and your dog. The food portions are generous and well done. Slight miss on the brisket sandwich. While the meat is flavorful and well smoked, leaving all the fat in makes it a greasy mess. Ever think of scraping the fat layer off that brisket after it’s done and before it’s served? Then you’ll have a good sandwich.
