I ordered combination plate, two chilé relleno with beans and rice (great beans and rice). My date had a beef chimichanga. The food was wonderful and we each had enough left for another meal. Our waiter was Ben, a nice young man who provided us with great customer service. This family business has been there for 85 years! It was my first time there and I will definitely be going back. El Tapatio is my new favorite restaurant.

Forget Old Town! I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in San Diego county. Unfortunately it’s not open as much as I hope. The food is authentic and the drinks are killer. Prices are very reasonable. If you’re visiting San Diego it’s worth the trip to go up to Escondido.

Horrible food, almost broke a tooth when bit into my carnitas burrito and found an entire bone inside. All good was below mediocre and was extremely disappointed.

I came to La Tapatia to host a surprise birthday party for my mom. About 20 people total. Throughout the whole planning process David and his team were communicative, friendly, and ready to help.

I hadn’t been to LA Tapatia for almost a year so. Went back yesterday for a drinks Appetizers right before my movie started… Food was amazing. Better somehow. The chicken wings were not dry they were just perfect! The Buffalo sauce was amazing!! prefect!! the hostess and bartender, the staff Was so welcoming.

We were visiting from Phoenix and we decided to come here. It was the best decision we made. The food was so delicious. I ordered chile relleno and cheese enchilada. The flavors were mixed together so well and authentic. Come here if you are in Escondido! You will not be disappointed.

We had veggi fajitas. Very greasy. Oil used to cook them very old. My sister & I felt nauseated & sick afterwards. Need to make edible food. Not going there again.

I want to give this restaurant more stars, but i just cant. The food is, just okay, it is mediocre, nothing above average or special like you would expect or want it to be, especially given the prices and the size and atmosphere of the restaurant itself. There were four of us dining and we had a burrito, tamale, steak and enchiladas, and some appetizers. No one was really happy with their meal, my wife didn’t eat her meal. Maybe it was an off day, or maybe we ordered wrong, but I was expecting a more elevated level of food. Maybe better quality ingredients or elevated presentation, better flavor, etc, but was just not very impressed. The staff however, are so nice and we’re attentive. The young gentleman waiter helping us was seriously good at his job, but this does not make up for the unimpressive food. I hope they can improve, because the place is nice, their outdoor patio is great, and they have a cool fireplace inside. Just need better food in my opinion.

This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had! It was totally tasteless – we had three different selections and they were all horrible. I would give it zero stars, but the site requires at least one star be chosen.

It was good. The Fajitas vegetables were a bit to greasy, but other than that everything else was good. The service was good.
