They catered an event for Prospective Child Care Providers. They did great! She said it was the first time she had done an event like this. We are having another event in Newton and Ark City, she said she could do those too! Can’t wait, she did an amazing job.

This place is really great! It deserves more business for sure. The pickle fries are WONDERFUL. The burger was surprisingly big, and the fries are super crispy on the outside. I’ll definitely be coming back to try out the breakfast menu!

If you’re on the road and happen to drive through El Dorado, Kansas, you’ve got to try Slugger’s. This is one of absolute best places in El Dorado to get an old fashioned homemade cheeseburger and homestyle fries. If you enjoy the old mom & pop style counter diners with the grill right there, this is it! Real hamburger patties with real toppings, including real dill chip pickles. It’s nice to have another little place to get the homestyle diner experience since we no longer have the great spots like Job’s and Susie’s anymore.

Great food, great service! This is not “fast food”. It is real food cooked to order! I can personally recommend the BBQ Beef and the 3 Egg Omlet.I will stop here every time I’m visiting from out of town!

Folks were nice and allowed us to place a pickup order, food was ready in a timely fashion too. Food left a lot to be desired, though. Pictured is the chicken strips, which were clearly frozen/prepacked. Not bad, but nothing better than what is at the store imo. Not much flavor. Fries were pretty good though! Not pictured is a burger which was cooked alright but also just a frozen preformed patty, so nothing special or unique. For a place all about burgers, I’d expect a homemade patties, local beef, or something of the like. Overall not terrible, but not worth going out for or paying restaurant prices for.

I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants a casual, fun diner experience, which is what my rating is based on (if you’re in a hurry calling ahead is probably a good idea). As of now they have breakfast (coffee, scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon etc.), lunch, and dinner (mostly sandwiches/burgers), ice cream, shakes and baked goods, like pie. I’ve been a few times and I’m glad to have them as an option! I’ve always found that the staff is cool and aims to please. It’s independently-owned-and-operated and a family business, so if you like that cause, that’s just another reason to go/give them a try.

Amazing experience, workers are very kind and welcoming. They make conversation and are very comedic. Went here thinking it was a DQ in maybe June or July of 2022 during baseball season to watch my brother (my dad used to live here and would go to the DQ all the time), they have ice cream cakes and sell softserve ice cream. The fries are outstandingly delicious, and the chicken strips I had were delicious. When I went they had only opened maybe 4 months prior and were still figuring thing out. Again the employees were amazing and very engaging. FYI those tall orange seats are definitely made for taller than 5’4″ people, be cautious when getting on or off of them, I fell off and knocked the chair down when I got off.

Went here thinking it was a DQ. Found out it had closed and Slugger’s was opened. Stayed and got a burger and fries. The fries were outstanding, and the burger was good. Bottom bun was wet and cold. I suspect the jalapeños and pickles were placed on the bun while waiting for the beef patty to cook, I also think the beef patty could have been a bit bigger. That being said it was all good and I would go back.
