We visited on 8/7/23. It was not busy this night but it took us a while to be seated. Waitress was good. I ordered chicken fajitas, there were good, could have had more chicken. My husband got the steak burrito and beans and rice and he thought everything was tasty. Full bar. Coke products. Good parking. The restaurant had a strong Lysol smell that could be toned down a bit.

On Blairs Ferry – Cedar Rapids — Gerardo was our server, he was awesome. 5 star service!!! Meals (lunch portions) were sizable, delicious, looked great plated. The bar looks stylish, overall this is absolutely a do again kind of restaurant. If you haven’t tried this location you are missing out. Very clean, men’s restroom even had a huge (clean) baby changing station. Family friendly….

7/13/23 My family and I decided to try El Bajio 2 last night. I ordered the Fajita Quesadillas. I was surprised when my dish was served and it was just a large tortilla folded in half with ground beef that was a strange color. There were no seasonings of any kind nor were there any grilled green peppers or onions as in a traditional Fajita. A very small edible dish had a few traditional toppings in it. It was so bad that I only had a few bites. The dish came with rice and beans that were okay. For 13 dollars I should have gone to Taco Bell and had better food. We’ll never go there again.

I was really excited to try El Bajio but unfortunately our experience was less than great. The service was very slow, even though there were only a few other parties in the restaurant. We had to ask for waters a couple of times and it took probably half an hour just to get our order taken. I ordered a Moscow Mule and it was not good. It tasted like a watered down lime margarita instead of a mule. I ordered flautas and my Mom ordered seafood enchiladas. Both entrees were very bland. The enchiladas were almost all imitation crab and one shrimp in the entire thing. The flautas were very dry, had no seasoning and the cheese was tasteless. I’ve honestly never been disappointed by Mexican food but I couldn’t finish my food or my drink. Very disappointed and probably won’t be back. 🙁

It seems like a great establishment, and the food is great; but the service is sub-par. I was here from out of town, celebrating a friend’s birthday. It took forever to get service (drinks or food) and when they finally brought the food or drinks out, there was no particular method for remembering which order went where. Also, when credit cards were brought out, the server just yelled out the name of the person. I might suggest coming up with some sort of numbering system for your tables; it would make you look a lot more professional.

Both times we’ve been the food has been great! Some of the best queso in town. The downside : the fancy marg I ordered the first time was $13. It wasn’t even a jumbo – that would have been reasonable. But a regular size for $13 seems a little too high ($10 would have been priced better IMO). The second time, my daughter wanted some guac with her burrito and we got a full side of it with two charges on our bill – bringing the guac to well over $4.
