Sat for over an hour waiting for our food. They finally came out and told us they screwed up our food and had to remake ours. They still got my daughters food wrong. She said she wanted bacon and they gave her sausage.

Food is amazing. Service is outstanding. Seth, Alice, and Charlotte are amazing. Have had pretty much everything on the menu and nothing disappoints. I had the Big Nasty Burger today and it was amazing. Be sure to ask for gloves lol. Wife had the Chicken Fried Steak with fried okra and mac and cheese. We are here atleast twice a week.

Our experience here was awesome!!!! The female that was our server was down to earth!!’ The food was amazing! We read the reviews before we went so we ordered the 1/2 chicken fried steak and it was still HUGE!!! The rib eye was sooooo good and tender!!!! Definitely will drive back to Waco again!!!!

Never been to John Lillies, before now. A good friend of mine chose to go there for his birthday, so I figured I’d give it a shot. The Parking lot was full when I got there, so figured that to be a good sign. Atmosphere was good. Very friendly and attentive staff. The menu was way more than you would expect from a steakhouse. The appetizers, fried zucchini and brisket nachos, were amazing. I could have stopped there and been happy! Then the recommended huge chicken fried steak came out. It was good, with a thin crispy crust, like my wife likes. Had to ask for extra gravy, though. The lemon-raspberry cake served to the birthday boy made me wish I had saved some room. All-in-all an enjoyable experience that I will add to my once a month list.

This place has a great menu. They have poutine and it was amazing. I got the texas frito pie. It was smoked brisket on top of fritos and cheese. The wait staff was great. This was a very good experience.

For being a small town steakhouse this place is really good and decently priced. We didn’t get to try their steaks but we had a couple of the other southern classics. It was pretty busy but we were sat down right away. They sat us down in the center of the room at a table that was once for a party of 8. It had two tables pushed together and four chairs at each table. They separated the tables by about four inches and sat us down. Two minutes later another party of four sat down next to us. We could hear each other’s conversations without even trying. It was similar to how it would be if two different people were on the same table were having two different conversations. So that was annoying but once we got our food we didn’t notice.

Very busy on a Friday night, staff was very efficient and organized. The pan seared salmon with a lime cilantro/tomato/corn relish rice was delicious. The grilled shrimp and grilled vegetables were expertly seasoned and cooked just right. The baked sweet potato was creamy with lots of butter and cinnamon. On a previous visit for lunch I loved the blackened catfish!!

Probably won’t go back by choice. Got there at 1245, 20 min wait (which is expected around lunch, no biggie),10 min until the server came to get our drink order. All drinks were empty and I had to get up to go get someone to fill them. The food came at 144. Left there at 209. The server came to the table once while there (except to get drink orders and we ordered at the same time).

I had the half ribs with fried okra and green beans. The ribs were over cooked. The barbeque sauce was the best I’ve ever had. The key lime pie was the best I’ve ever had. My husband had tenders and fries. He said it was good and the gravy was tasty. I do recommend this place to all♥️

Been a while since we been there, appetizer was hot and delivered quickly to our table, i got chicken fried steak, was tender an flavorful, husband got the 8 oz sirloin, said it had a good flavor, but tough, had a hard time cutting it. We waited on refills on our drinks, almost like he had forgotten us, another waitress refilled our glasses for him. Maybe next time service will have improved.
