Cadre is one of my favorite places in Madison. Pretty much everything we have had there has been amazing. The staff is incredible and accommodating to my unique needs. The patio is a perfect little spot for outdoor dining. The happy hour has nice specials. They have wonderful drinks including non-alcoholic options. I highly recommend the moules frites, soups (that vary), and cheese curds. Price tag can vary widely- if you do a happy hour it can be quite cheap, or you can really go all out for a higher end expensive meal. It’s been a fantastic dining experience every time.

Our first experience was lovely. We had 5 dishes in total and 3 drinks and all but 1 were magnificent and we plan to return. The service was spectacular, great coordination and quickly met all our needs. Be aware and additional 20% is included on the bill for service, and we felt good about it. The only one disappointment was the dessert, similar to a cheesecake with lemon curd was not as expected. It was rubbery. Which was a bummer ending with how everything else was tastebud mindblowing! Do check out this amazing gem soon!

We probably would give this restaurant a 3.5 but rounded up. The sommelier was excellent, very kind, and very knowledgeable. We ordered a glass of wine and the martini off the cocktail menu. The drinks took close to 25 minutes to be delivered and when they were, the server came with two glasses of wine. I corrected her with what I had ordered (which is absolutely no big deal!) and it took almost another ten minutes for the drink to come – the glass also being probably only half full. It was also very odd for the caliber of a restaurant like this and it also didn’t seem super busy. The cheese curds were a great rendition of a Wisconsin favorite but more elevated – I wish there was some kind of sauce for them. We also got the melon salad special and bread and butter – both wonderful. My husband got the potato gnocchi. We expected it to be light and pillowy but it was very dense. I got the bouillabaisse and would recommend! All in all, we found it just okay. The food is definitely different than other similar priced restaurants in Madison so that’s always fun to try.

Cadre Restaurant is very nice place to have a date night. They have a cozy atmosphere and great food. Everything we tried was really good. We had drinks, two shareable size items a small plate, and an entrée and a dessert. Their sliders from the bar menu were really good.

Finally made it over to Cadre last night & experienced the artistry that Chef Evan Dannells is out here completely mastering. Each dish had us blown away, with not only absolutely stunning presentation, but flavor pairings that were unique, delightful and all out delicious. No holding back on a few of the classics as well, like my all time fave Beef Bourguignon, but also plenty of diverse offerings to satisfy a solid array of eating styles. Every person we encountered on staff that night was passionate, friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Their recommendations were spot on. Whenever I make my way back there, it surely won’t be soon enough

It was overall quite good, like a legit 8/10. Overall the group liked their food but weren’t terribly impressed by portion size. One of our dishes had undercooked and hard turnips which was bizarre. Staff were very friendly but it was slightly understaffed so getting a new drink took 15 minutes which isn’t the best considering the prices. That being said, the cocktails were all delicious and very well made.

Had a wonderful dinner at Cadre. The chèvre cheese curds were amazing. All of our entrees were a great portion size and absolutely delicious. The cocktail menu is unique and well executed. The service staff and outdoor patio made for a lovely dining experience. I would highly recommend for a date night or just a great meal.

Cadre is one of a few newer fine dining establishments that have been opening on Madison’s west side, and I wholeheartedly encourage people to try them out. They’re great for a special occasion, an upscale happy hour, and any number of other reasons to dine out for a night.

We had an expensive fixed price dinner that was overall a disappointment. Steak had to be returned to be recooked. Since when does a medium rare steak have no pink whatsoever? Salads were not good. Big chunks of beauty heart radish that were so hard you could barely cut it into bite-size pieces. Gave up and just ate around them. House wine was absolutely undrinkable, and I’m not that picky. Desserts unremarkable. Everything either too sweet, too dry or tasteless, although that little teaspoon of rhubarb compote was good. Basically the entire meal was subpar and wildly over priced. With 20% service charge it was ~$100 a piece. AND they provided an option for us to add an additional tip over the already mandatory 20% added to the check. No thanks. 2 stars for good service and nice atmosphere. Zero stars for value.
