My husband and I came upon this place by accident. We were actually around the corner hoping to eat at another delicious restaurant but were disappointed to find out that they didn’t open til 3pm. More about that delectable spot in another review to come. As for Spuds, being that it seemed like a perfect meal for our October PNW weather, we decided to eat there. We walked into what was a nice, clean and bright atmosphere. Immediately we were greeted by the cashier with a smile. We ordered asking her opinion of what she thought was better of two choices on the menu. She gladly obliged and offered her opinion. I always ask just for the fact that an employee who actually eats the food they’re serving and has favorites is a good sign. It was just before the lunch hour so there were plenty of choices for seating. The food arrived and the first bite I took was that of the mushrooms. It didn’t disappoint and I didn’t even have to dip it in anything. Next was my cod n chips. All which were good. Hubby ordered the butterfly shrimp and although I’m not really a shrimp person I thought I’d take a bite. It was extremely buttery. So much so that I didn’t really taste any shrimp. My next disappointment was the clam chowder. I absolutely love clam chowder, but not this one. Two words, no flavor. I added crackers and pepper and still nothing. Blah. And I don’t know how, but every bite of the other food after that was so salty. Needless to say, as good as it started… well, let’s just say it was just at the start. A lot of people showed up for lunch and by the time we were done the restaurant was almost full. I’ve been at other Spuds and they’ve been good experiences. I’m hoping this was just a fluke, but we probably won’t return even if it was. Too many other great restaurants in Edmonds to return to one that didn’t initially impress us.

Cons: soggy fries with no salt, small portions, tartar sauce has barely any relish, and price is way too high.

NOT the Spud’s of old. Breading is not the same, thin and tasteless. The fries aren’t fresh cut but frozen. WAY overpriced. Such a shameful representation of this iconic Seattle restaurant. Won’t be back.

The fries were under cooked and tasted like it was cooked in bad oil. I was unable to eat my dinner , very disappointed after spending $40. My past experiences had been good, don’t think I’ll be going back.

Y’all!!! I have found the best fish and chips in the PNW! (I’ve been on a personal mission for a little over a year now.) This place is a quaint hole-in-the-wall-esque mom and pop fish joint that really gets the job done! The fish is hand-cut and hand-breaded. The cod has a well-seasoned, more of a home style breading while the halibut has that panko crunch that I absolutely love! (I accidentally ate the halibut before I could take a picture of it!) The prices are great and the people are great! My only wish would be for a house made tartar sauce. Keep up the great work!

Amazing people and VERY tasty food! Don’t miss this seaside family owned gem sporting the freshest of fish. Cara took care of our order and was very welcoming. Upon complimenting the garlic aioli sauce, she relayed that it was a family recipe passed down to her. The place itself was very clean and spacious. The couple of pinball machines with watery themes toward the back completed the wonderful ambience. If you enjoy seafood, you’re in great hands here.

The staff was friendly and they did do a good job keeping the place clean, but that’s where it ends. If you want tartar sauce, it’s going to cost you on top of the already high prices. The clams and fries were average and the fish had a very strong vinegar taste that wouldn’t go away even hours after eating.

This is my first day living in Washington and I wanted to explore.. Im eating Fresh “hand battered” Cod, Large Authentic fried oysters and French Fries!! Let me tell you, you are being cheated out of this wonderful tasteful experience!! If you eat frozen Cod. The seasoning, you dont need any sauce!! And im enjoying a glass of Pino Grigio. Spuds Fish and Chips in Edmonds is amazing and have my vote!! You can also see the Ferry boat to Kingston, watch the waves and enjoy the view! You dont need Sunshine because it is right here in this place with the service and friendly owner.

Great fish & chips! They make it fresh, right in front of you. And their tartar sauce is tasty. Good service, with a nice big & clean inside space, with some small outdoor patio seating area out front. Recommend, especially if you’re craving some fish & chips while waiting for the ferry, which is very close & walkable.
