The food was good. The service was bad. They’re needing someone with better training to work the register. The young man working the register when asked a question, was unable to answer and when he did answer we couldn’t hardly hear him !

The BEST chicken in and around town hands down. Half chicken and whole chicken available Work rice and beans and their green sauce is so good it’s surreal. And don’t forget about the grilled onion that comes with your chicken. It’s so good it’s gone instantly. Taquitos, tostadas, nachos, and more. They have manzanita in the soda fountain which I look forward to every time. Inside seating and to-go drive through. We LOVE this place. Between the family and our business we eat there at least once a week.

This place was highly recommended to me. As a grilled chicken fan, I’m always looking for chicken restaurants. Chicken is not fresh off the grill. In fact, it is served wrapped, and when you unwrap it, it looks like it’s been seating there awhile already. It’s wrinkled, greasy, and the dirty wrapping doesn’t help. What’s up with the green vomit they call green salsa? And don’t get me going on the tomato paste they call red salsa. Flavor it’s ok, but by the time you unwrap the chicken, it lost all appeal. It might be the best, for New Braunfels. In it’s defense, all grilled chicken in the Greater San Antonio area is very generic, all tastes the same, like they all shop at the same stores. The place is very clean though, although the lay out of the furniture is not very inviting.

Great tasty chicken, been buying for years, BUT it is very disappointing that now they are only giving 2 green salsas, and 1 red salsa for a whole chicken! You want more? You have to pay $.50/each. I understand current market conditions, but to over extend your prices on salsa like this, is a BIG NO for me. I’m a salsa fanatic and this is utterly irritating.

The place may look like a dive and the dine in ambiance may not impress but the food is amazing. Their rotisserie style roasted chicken is to die for. Perfectly seasoned and charred and delicious! The charro style beans are the best of any other restaurant in New Braunfels or San Antonio, the plantains are reminiscent of back home and the corn tortillas are perfect. In short, you need to try the food at El Pollo Rico!!! The staff has always been efficient and helpful during all my visits. Oh, the green salsa is another highlight and compliments the chicken oh so well.

The family went there for the first time on 3-9-23. Bought the whole chicken meal and we all enjoyed the flavor and all the fixings. Chicken was moist and full of flavor. Even the corn tortillas and sauce was good. Service was very good and friendly. We will definitely be visiting again
