Friend and I were in the area and this Neighborhood Bar on my list to try and we were not disappointed. It was a Thursday night and they had trivia going, so we sat at the bar. Best decision to have a friendly bartender that we started with a couple of beers. I asked for the Guinness and was asked regular or large. Who can say no to a large Guinness, but I was astonished when it came out in a 24oz mug with a perfect pour. Friend was vegetarian and he got the Veggie burger that he said was good. I got the Spicy Philly and tots. The sandwich was huge with meat, cheese, jalapenos, peppers and mushrooms. The tots are worth just driving over to this bar. They were cooked perfectly and I dipped a little in the mayonnaise that tasted house made because I usually don’t like mayo. If you are in this area, stop by here for good food, big drinks and great company.

Hanging out with some family and they suggested Charlie Brown’s. Was not disappointed! Cold beer and a nice patio that was cigar-friendly. Karaoke was on the menu that night and we had a blast singing and doing our part to entertain the crowd. Definitely give this place a try.

I usually have a great experience at CBs but this new staff today was distracted, inattentive, and nonchalant in bar service. I literally stood at the front of the bar for 8-10 minutes without so much as “I’ll be right with you”. Bar tenders on their phone, going back house for extended periods, chatting up their friends. Finally just walked out of the place with a buddy. Didn’t think my favorite neighborhood bar/grill would treat a loyal customer like this but there’s a first time For everything I guess.

I guess it’s not a place for people of color. My man and I sat ourselves and were offered menus and drinks then waited 15mins before being acknowledged again so we left. Only because we watched 5 more people come in and service seemed to be immediate.

We were greated at our table by Tom, who was super pleasant and welcoming while giving us a run down of the draft beer choices. He then took our order and came back with 2 frosted mugs filled with Shiner beer. Tom took great care of us that evening. We later found out through conversation that Tom is a manager. Most places managers hide in the back but not this guy. Tom has definitely earned my respect and business as we will be coming back for the great food, cold beer and amazing service.

This is easily my favorite bar and restaurant in San Antonio. The food is unmatched and I always feel like family when I come in. I work close and get treated like royalty whenever I come in. Everything you could hope for when it comes to service and quality of food is beyond anything I’ve experienced.
