Santa Barbara Shellfish Company was established in 1980 as a buying station for local Santa Barbara shellfish and fish and a place to sell crab. Over the years we’ve learned how to serve shellfish from recipes my family and I have appreciated and interpreted from our fishermen friends along the many coasts that we have traveled.

Freshest seafood I’ve ever had. There’s always a long line BUT order from the side window and you’ll get it pretty quick and have to get a table by your own. Sadly when we arrived there was no more fish! But they had everything else, we had shrimp tacos, lobster pasta, abalone with rice and sea urchin as an appetizer. Half order of sea urchin is 35 bucks. Everything was around 100 dollars.

Oysters were fresh and delicious. Clam linguini awesome, plenty of fresh clams and nice light sauce. Served hot! Clam chowder excellent and hot! Scallops and uni special was good but I think serving it on limes is a mistake, over powers the subtle flavors. Sitting outside is awesome just be prepared for getting pummeled by 20+ mph winds!! Brrr

Nice restaurant in a very good location. The food is nothing special. The service is polite and professional. The outdoors tables have an incredible view on the coast and on the ocean. It is very nice and relaxing to have a quick bite while watching the panoramic view.

The Local Santa Barbara Sea Urchin was absolutely delicious! Picture this: the sea urchin, perched on a bed of raw scallop and zesty lime, accompanied by a side of ginger sauce that adds a tantalizing kick!

This place was the reason we visited Santa Barbara! Everything we had was fresh and absolutely amazing! Box crab was phenomenal! Lobster tacos were perfect I would 1000% recommend visiting this place while you are here!

This place is cold but I’ll put on my sweaters anytime for their chowder and lobster roll. Absolutely fantastic and fresh! Ordered the Oyster and the Abalone as well but they are just okay. This place can get crowded so better come at rather odd hours when it’s not the peak mealtime hours.

I have a friend that recommend me this place, and I think it was a good recommendation. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the view from the pier is pretty. Definitely, I will recommend this place to others. By the way, the lobster roll was my favorite!

We ordered sea urchin, clam chowder, a rock crab and a lobster roll. Sea urchin and rock crab were very tasty and sweet but pricey. Rock crab took some effort to crack open all those legs so we’ll unlikely be ordering that again. Clam chowder was good but nothing special and lobster roll was a disappointment as the bread was very dry and lack of flavor. Very fast service and nice location.

I didn’t take many photos – I was to busy watching all the sailboats. Find a parking spot and get in line by writing your name on the clipboard in the front. We got a excellent table closest to the water. There is indoor seating as well.

Delicious!! Staff recommendations were on point, sunset and moonrise was beautiful, and the food (Seafood bisque and crab cakes) was perfect. Even snagged a photo of the spider crab another table was about to enjoy. You must go!
